HI Guys, I had bought a 76 series landcruiser in quiet a state and have been slowly rebuilding it, i now at the moment do not have the rev meter nor the speed reading, kindly advise on where the odometer would be getting these signals from?

oh and yes it isnt reading mileage either.

Thank you

Why year and type of engine? 2009 was big switch to plastic dash and integrated cluster (6/2009).
For speedo, the sender is on the transfer case and travels through the engine loom to left loom and to main.

If you have the 1hz diesel, the tach sensor is on the injection pump with three leads (two tach, one fuel cut). Again, travels through the engine loom and so on. I am unsure about V8 diesel or the gas variants.

Any power to meter from other gauges or lights etc or is the whole thing dead?

Two plugs to back of meter (for that production run). Make sure they are in. Check fuse if all out.

There is power on the cluster, all lights are currently working. Also for some reason the odometer is not moving. The km reading is stagnant on one number.

Often odo is moved by the speedo cable on many vehicles. Often they are plugged in and and screwed onto your transmission. Speedo cable, usually a cheap part, readily available.

If the neither the speedometer or the odometer are working then I would guess it is the speedometer cable, or perhaps the speedometer gear in the transfer case or the gears in the gauge.

No cable on 2013 models. It is a sender to the instrument cluster.

Maroof. Cluster is a circuit board with no moving parts other than meter servos. I do not know enough electrical engineering to know if the cluster is shot or not. Look for continuity from the plug for tach to the meter connection on back (again, I never dug down enough to find the correct connections). The sender noted above is on t case and sends the impulse for the speedometer. Trouble shoot that. You may need a new one, $83 from Amayama- japan

Hello,

From 1999 on the speedometer cable was replaced with a sensor. A cable goes between this sensor and a port behind the instrument panel. An interface cable links this port with the panel.

This upgrade comes in handy when you remove the instrument panel, because there is no need to mess with the speedometer cable. The panel is easy to put aside to work, provided you do not disconnect the interface cable.

It is possible that your sensor or your cable need replacement. Maybe both need replacement.
