The fj40 will be going to a new home in PA this Saturday, thanks for all the interest by my fellow mud members, yes the new owner saw her here. I am glad she is going to someone that will appreciate her.

Unfortunately with life's twists and turns I am in placed in the position that I need to sell my FJ40.
It is a 76 with older doors (vent Windows), a OM 617 swap, lift w/33x10.5 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's. It currently has a oem style soft top on real-steel bows and barn door rear doors. I also will include the original Hardtop w/ambulance doors. It is located in Wilmington De. I am looking to get $10,000 but am open to any serious offers. If interested please pm me and I will provide more details, i.e pictures, contact number etc..

John, Can't PM but if you could send me some more info and pics to alberto08013 at gmail dot com that would be great. I am outside of Philly.

Thanks

Albert

will do, at work currently but will send this evening

Alberto, e-mail sent, let me know if you got it

what sort of MPG and hwy rpm are you getting with this setup?

GLWS!

Took it to the beach this summer and was getting 24 mpg average. As far as rpm, tach does not work but this motor is designed to run the same rpm' as gas motor. Also with 33's and stock 4.10's there is a drop in rpm' from factory height tires.

Wow, 24 MPG is epic for a 40. I get 10.5 with my F.5 and 35" tires... LOL

That was why I wanted to swap to the diesel

Hi John,

I have a question for you about the mods you did if you have time to answer.

I'm removing the ambulance doors and hard top and putting barn doors and a soft top on my 77 FJ40 (basically the exact same set up that you've done). Did you have any issues when you drilled the new holes for the barn doors and the tire carrier, what kind of extra support did you add? Did you drill a new hole to secure the barn doors where the interior latch slides down to lock the door in place? Any info or pictures you might have would be a massive help and really appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave.

Dave,

Glad to help, no issues with attaching doors, drilled and used nutserts and yes I had to drill a hole for the inside bottom pin on the door, used a spacer for the hinges in order to get them further away from the body. Tire carrier is the same connections (old style). I would be glad to get you any pictures you might need. Let me know

Thanks John, any close up pictures of what you did would be brilliant. I will have the same spare tire carrier set up as well on the DS.

Dave,

Will try and get you the pic's tomorrow after work, I actually have another carrier for the other side (passenger) that was going to be for NATO cans.

John

I'd be interested to see a picture of the carrier for the NATO can's if you can take one as well. I'm buying a few things from one of the guys on here, it's a fantastic site and there's always somebody willing to help out if you need advice eh. Where did you get the soft top from John as that's on my list of "to get" as well :-)

Got the top from another member, it is an OCD Top (OCD Beetle) no longer made I believe. Good top, was originally black but faded bug time. Never got around to making the holder for the cans but did pick up and refurbish a passenger side tire carrier to do hold it.

Having issues loading pic's bear with me please
