Hey guys finally getting to this project. I have a 40 that has not run in a couple years. Got a fresh battery and put some marvels in each cylinder a while ago to free up the rings. Engine cranks and fresh oil in it. Trying to figure out where the random loose wires I have go. Assuming two are grounds any help is appreciated. First 40 for me I have several 80 series. Also have a what looks like like an online fuel pressure regulator that is leaking everywhere.

The correct wiring diagram for your year/model/market will help. I look at the color code on the wire, then go the area its found on the diagram (starter red wire with blue stripe) and see if any thing turns up. Or I just look for red wires with blue stripe.

One of the few really good things of a Chilton's book is the wiring diagrams. I had the one for my 72 blown up to 2x3 feet so I can read it without glasses. On the back I wrote part numbers, tune up and torque spec's then had it laminated. Very handy and durable still in good shaped from the 90's.

Maybe there is one in the free download section.

I don’t believe this is a stock distributor set up. Does not have points. The truck came with this extra coil. Wiring diagrams I’m pretty much retarded. I’m not getting spark from coil to distributor. The wire from the starter is not hooked up to the distributor it’s just loose and a set of wires is ran straight to the coil pos/neg.

So question do I have the coil hooked up correct and do I need the two wires pictured last picture? Any help is appreciated.
