Porsche GT3 money for an FJ? I don't think so.....

awile back one of this same quality sold on barret's for alot less. Yeh I know its not apples to apples probley. but it only went for high 40's.

But its realy cool and for that money I would look for something a little more resellable for the future.

Agreed!

Wonder if it even still smells like a 40....

looks like there is attention to detail with all the stickers. I like that. I was going to buy it but then when I noticed no oem floor mats front or rear I figured that only cost me extra so I passed. Probably for the best as this way I won't have to re-morgage the house and go through a divorce.

Mortgage rates are at historical lows and you can always remarry after the Cruiser is paid off. :D

I didn't realize ferrari red is such an expensive paint.

Fantastic attention to detail, but you'd be afraid to actually drive it!

At least the bezel is on right... :)

it isn't even 100% correct....wrong antenna, side view mirrors...whats that thing he has in the center of the dash. Has aftermarket tie downs. Rims aren't correct. Definitely delusional at that price...and i hope all those receipts aren't just for this FJ40....$120k sounds a little steep. :) Also betting every part that doesn't say genuine is aftermarket. :meh:

SOOOOO if he were to even sell it for the 75,000 he would be taking a 45,000 dollar loss? WTF. I just pray that he is a multi-millionaire cruiserhead and that was chump change.

Just think...... they all looked that nice at one time!!!

for that kind of money, i'll take an icon.

That's a lot, but I have to admit it looks a lot like showroom new. I always dream about how cool it would have been to walk down to the Toyota dealer and buy and brand new 40. Unfortunately I was 6 when mine was new, and I don't think I started getting an allowance until I turned 10.

most of the readers on this thread have no idea what it costs to properly refurbish a cruiser.
as for the https://forum.ih8mud.com/vehicles-t...20449-1962-fj40-resto-mod-south-carolina.html build. compare apples to apples. one has a $4K paint job the other is easily a $10K up paint job.

is this one worth the $75K, not to me. could it cost $120K to build? sure, when you are paying someone to build a vehicle the hours add up quickly and at $60 - $100 /hr shop time ... quality costs money. then add the parts, sourcing time ...

would i take this over a Icon? in a heart beat.

Thus the old saying..... " it is cheaper to buy someone else's restoration than to restore yourself."
My father restored dozens of vintage vehicles and aircraft over his lifetime simply because he enjoyed it but even at a $1.00 per hour labor rate he probably never ever recovered his cost.

I agree with crushers, I would way rather have this than a ICON. I would need floor mats ASAP though!
