So, Someone commented on a 74 Toyota F/2F inline six, Calling it a F1.5?!? What is the benefit to having such an engine?
I had a 2F years ago, But I had no idea what year it was made.
Anyone have any idea what they might be talking about?
Thanks

Nothing more than a transition year.......

F motor bore with 2F improved oiling features......

easy way to tell, has the F aircleaner but the oil filter is on the pass side like a 2F

Specifically (to quote rsbcruiser), 4 rings per piston like the F.

4 ring pistons only 9/73-12/74 before and after that 3........

old F style main bearings with shims between block and caps....dowel main retainers (non line bore-able).....main bearings can only be serviced via crank removal.......

F crank pulley configuration....( not convenient if you want to ad P/S~A/C or whatever)........

parts are hard to find and costly........

other than the above..........its OK! I drive one daily.....
