1973 fj55. Bought this truck back in 08 to play with. Life and other interest got in the way. Here’s where it’s at. 305 Chevrolet V8 hooked to stock Toyota driveline by Mark’s Adapter. Disc brake frontend. Stock Chevy 4 bbl intake with quadrajet carburetor. Electronic Ignition, New water pump. Aluminum radiator and fan. PS, PB. Brakes gone thru with rebuilt wheel cylinders and new master cylinder and calipers. New Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. New starter and battery. Electric fuel pump. Motor condition is unknown but doesn’t leak or smoke. Sounds good, starts right up, runs good.

Interior is pretty good. 4 cracks in dash but now covered by removable carpet cover. Original floor mat is near perfect. No tears or worn spots. Sun Pro temp/amp/oil pressure gauges have been added. Original gauges were functional just wanted more accuracy. Fuel guage and Speedo work well. Both heaters work, seats have been recovered and fabric is old but not torn. Headliner has a few places in it and needs to be replaced. All glass is good but windshield has one small peck in it.

Body is very solid. Both front fenders have patch panels welded in professionally and are nice. (They’re still off the truck) Slight bubbling in passenger lower corner of tailgate. Roof/gutters are straight and solid with only surface rust. Hood is straight with one small pinhole back by hinge on passenger side. Both back doors have some rust issues along the bottom. I’v e seen a lot worse and these can be fixed. Both rockers have some rust where the rear doors meet them along the bottom. (only visibe when the back doors are open) and a couple of spots on the passenger rocker. Floor is solid. Rear quarters are solid. Has a few slight dents in the truck but doesn’t appear to have had any panels previously replaced. Sitting on steel spoke wheels with decent 31x10.50x15 tires.

I have every emblem/light/reflector in good condition for it, except passenger side mirror. All nuts/bolts have been bagged and tagged. Rear bumper is good but front is not original. Truck has always been in garage or under carport since purchased and none of the rust issues appear to have gotten any worse. This is a body man’s dream as all the mechanical stuff has been addressed. I’ve probably described the rust worse than it is but didn’t want anyone to be surprised. Lost interest and bought a 40. May pick back up on it one day but could use the space. $4k or I’ll just keep it. Won't let me upload photos. Serious parties contact me and I’ll provide any pics that you need. tandbpalmer@att.net

pics?

Won't let me load pics. Got a security token missing? I've got about 20 pics of pretty much anything you want to see. Would consider trading up toward a nice 60.

It is your old truck. You know first hand how solid and well put together it is since you did most of it.

Yeah this is a solid truck. It was originally from California I believe. This would make a good 55 for somebody.

55

Payment on the way and shipping arrangements have been made from TN to PA. Can't wait to be back in a 55 again! Hoping to have it look like my old truck ( see avatar) without the lift and big tires. Shmukster

New 55

Well the 55 made it to Pennsylvania. Arrived Saturday afternoon and is now in my cozy garage. Good truck, exactly as described in Wallace' post. Hope to have it re-assembled, painted and back on the road by the end of June. Gary S
