Hey guys, probably shortest-lived member on this board. Saw a buddy do frame off resto of an FJ40 back in Tucson and when need arose for daily-driver/dog hauler I jumped at a '73 for sale in my neck of the woods (Charlottesville, VA). Anyway, just titled this truck 1/20 and like an idiot didn't exercise enough attention when I purchased her. Got home and went to work on the frame w/ a putty knife and screwdriver peeling back undercoating on frame. Discovered rot through and through in front of the rear leaf spring shackles. Was okay w/ the body/tub patching as this was gonna be a beater anyway, but I'm not sure if this can even be box welded around. Sooooooo, although the F engine and 3 speed tranny seem more than up to the task (did 300mi today no prob) I really don't feel like sinking the money into this to try to patch it, and as far as daily driving goes-just doesn't seem safe. I'm in residency and don't have time to really try to part this out, but prior to junking for a tax write off thought I'd list it. This would be especially good for anyone local to come by and see. As I said runs fine, all instruments, lights, gauges work and clear VA title just sucks about the frame. Would briefly consider trying to source a fresh frame but guessing the expense of transferring the drive train would be too much so cutting losses from my 3K dollar mistake. Don't have dig camera, but PO's listing still up on cars.com and msn autos in the Washington, D.C. area (Fredricksburg, VA). The rig is blue. Best parts off this include almost new black Best soft top, and 4 brand-new (<500mi) Michelin XCX/APT 31X10.5x15 tires on s***ty old steel wheels. Sorry for the lengthy post and lack of pix-Bill
