73 Dodge Challenger Rallye
Documented, #’s matching
Fully restored
$29,900
Located in NorCal near Sacramento
I have a beautiful 73 Challenger Rallye that has gone through a complete restoration that I bought after selling my cherry BJ70 a few years ago. I’m kind of over it now and I simply don’t drive the car often enough to justify taking up the space in the garage, so have decided to sell it should I find the right buyer, or trade for something interesting. Here are the specs:
FE5 Red on Black Interior
#’s Matching 340 4 barrel
#’s Matching 727 TourqueFlite Auto
Original rear end & Drive shaft
Original AC car
Original build sheet
Matching tags
All original sheet metal with stampings where appropriate…Fenders, quarters, radiator support, cowl, doors, floor pans, trunk pan…everything.
This was an extremely clean original CA car that never left Orland California prior to restoration. This was a 2 owner car prior to restoration that had NO RUST EVER, with exception of a dime sized spot on one lower rear quarter that was of course cut out and repaired. The car was completely disassembled inside and out, stripped, and media blasted before getting paint and re-assembly.
The car was restored in its original FE5 red and maintains its original dash and center console. The rest of the interior was all new from year one with no expense spared. The original 340 was rebuilt with performance in mind, bored .30 over, performance cam, pistons, rings, ignition etc. New headers and dual exhaust were added and it sounds awesome.
The original 727 was rebuilt, as was the 3rd member, brakes, fuel system, steering box, T-bars, shocks, suspension bushings, AC system etc. The paint is about as nice as it gets for a car you can actually drive, the bright red shines like a mirror. All the bright-work was re-chromed; custom steelies with real OEM poverty pack hub caps were added along with new BFG radials.
The under carriage has NOT been touched other than being cleaned, it shows no rust and is a true testament to how clean the car was prior to resto. I bought the car completed in late 2008 with 200 miles on it after resto, and I have driven it another 300 miles since. The guy who restored it wanted it to look like a T/A (go figure), so he left the Rallye fender louvers off and did a custom T/A style decal along with the steelies, hub caps and duck-bill spoiler. Whatever is not original (exhst manifold, fender louvers, carb etc), I have most of the original parts for, so to get this back to 100% stock trim would not be hard or expensive.
The car starts, runs, drives, steers and brakes absolutely beautiful. The body work quality, fit and finish is very impressive. The ONLY thing this car needs to be 100% perfect is the following:
•AC system has a leak in the Evap case; it will hold a charge and work, but only for a few days.
•There is also some ducting pieces missing so it does not blow air like it should
This car is the real deal and no expense was spared during the resto aside from it not going on a rotisserie. And because it’s not a 70 or 71 big block, its actually affordable. This is a high quality car that will only gain in value as the economy improves. As stated, I may consider partial or full trades on other toys…but I am absolutely 100% NOT interested in any junk, projects or anything that requires any work. Any trade considerations must be turn-key.
Please…SERIOUS Reply’s via phone only as I rarely check MUD mail. Thanks…
