I’ve been through the FSM a hundred times now and can’t tract these 2 down.

2x bullet connectors on blue/red wire.

It’s up on the front left harness by the windshield washer pump, high beam switch and voltage regulator.

I unwrapped the entire harness to follow everything through but I’m still scratching my head.

This is the start of the harness, up by the high beam switch

Here’s a more global view again, showing washer pump and high beam switch and voltage regulator all feeding into the main harness. Going down to the left feeds into the headlights, etc

Following the harness towards the rear, one of the blue/ red wires bundles into a group with 2 other blu/ red wires (rear heater?), a white and a red/ yellow (reverse light switch). The other continues to the rear

to summarize: 2x blue/ red wires travel from the firewall back, one connects to a bundle of ‘powered’ wires, the other travels back and connects to the reverse light.

Maybe someone with experience can help or maybe someone with a similar model can look in vehicle and spot them?

Any and all help appreciated

LR wires are usually power from the "Accessory" fuse which would have power when the key is in the ACC or Run position. The wire diagram shows a LR wire from the fuse going to the back up light switch, then from the other side of the switch another LR wire to the backup light. This wire provides 12v to the back up light when the back up switch on the trans tells it to (in reverse). I would say those two bullets probably connect to your back up light switch on the trans. RY wires are usually associated with headlights. Are you sure they are for your reverse switch? GY wires are associated with turn signals.

There are also L, LR, LW and LB bundled together under the left side cowl for the wipers, also with female bullet connectors.

Those two LR wires are for a column mounted reverse switch. Think three on the tree. The Red/Yellow wire goes to the 4WD t-case switch. The 1972-73 FJ40 wiring was a bit unique.
