'72 fj40 windshield frame on '76 fj40

Anyone know what kind of minor alterations this would require?
I understand that the wiper motor is different, but this surprises me that no one here knows the answer to this question. I thought it would be simple one.
SOR and other vendors make a hinge replacement plate so that your frame no longer folds down to the hood and is listed to fit 1958-84 fj40s so it must be very similar.

I am using a 74 frame on a 78. The only 2 things I noticed so far are
the rubber seal undereath is slightly different , the hole for the ws motor wiring is on the opposite side ( not a big deal ) . You might as well get the older rubber. The other thing is that I have to rewire the ws motor (not a big deal). The vents for the defrost are different , but they don't make much difference. All the hinges and the hard top bolted with no problems. The glass is also different size. I don't know if I am missing anything else. Also in my opinion they are much stronger and better looking than the newer ones. Also make sure that ws motor is in good working order , because I hear that they are hard to come by.

the answer is simple and has been covered many times on here did you try the faq section for this info . maybey thats why no quick answers .wiper wiring is on oposite sides and has to be rewired plugs dont match.the holes for the hard top may not line up in the front otherwise its a go good luck

Yes, the older windshield frame will fit your "newer" FJ40!
No, the windshield frame hinges are different; the 1975 & up models have an extended hinge to space-out the windshield frame to clear the bottom mounted windshield wiper motor when folded-down. The earlier rigs have simple flat windshield frame hinges.
