I have a '71 FJ40 that has a chevy 350 in it with a NV4500 5 speed tran. I am in the tear down process but am thinking about putting a new engine in this truck. I am not much of an engine guy so I need advise on what engine to put in it and where to get it. I would prefer not to change the trans. but will have it rebuilt. Anything other information you all have would be appreciated! Thanks

IF you're going to put in a new engine and the truck has already been converted to a 350 I'd probably go with a RamJet 350 Plenty of power. Bolts in. Fuel injection is setup and ready to go.

Chevrolet Performance 19201331 - Chevrolet Performance 350ci/385HP Fast Burn Turn-Key Engine

Would this engine work?

The engine installed I am told is in great shape and should be replaced!
I don't have the full story on it but don't even want to screw around.

I know the ram jet 350 is fuel injected but do they sell a more complete package than the ram jet summit sells. I'm not sure I could piece it together correctly? The package listed above seems to have it all!!!!

What would the down sides be to having a carberator vs. Fuel in jection?

Another vote for the Ramjet. I wish I did one, after everything I spent getting my crate engine running with a carb and eventually going to fuel injection, it would have been a lot easier for not too much extra $$$.
