Hello

I Have an Fj60 andi I'm planing to fit a V8 350 TBI and automatic transmision, I know that 700R4 and 4L60E are the same tans but 4L60E are full electronic controlated.

witch are better? any experience?

If your 350 comes with the computer & wiring harness use the 4L60E, if not most guys now are rebuilding 200's instead of 700's, both are 4 speeds but I was told that the internals are stronger in the 200's. The 700's I've seen in drag cars didn't last too long, they can't take the torque. I'd put a 350 or a 400 (3 speed) before I'd use a 700.

I HATE 4L60's.

Mr. Grogan disagrees with me, however my experience with three seperate suburbans my family has owned and a friends tahoe, has been that these trannies blow.

Every 'burb we had needed at least two trannies, one needed 3. My buddies babied tahoe needed a rebuild at 70k. (tranny went out while I was driving it).

Maybe it is just because I am used to the long lasting, tight-shifting A442's and 343's in FZJ80's that I consider the 4l60 to be a failing monkey s***-shifting piece? :D

Or maybe it just is. :flipoff2:

Yes I do.

In your case with the TBI, I would get the 700R, unless the engine you are using actually came with a 4L60. Otherwise, use a 700 and run it sans computer.

The internals are not stronger in the 200s than the 700s, but both are much weaker than the 350s and 400s.

Exactly what he said... to keep the swap as easy as possible, since the internals are so much the same. The standalone computers for the 4l60 aren't cheap...
