700r to Toy mini t-case adapters (9 Viewers)

I tried searching and found people with mini cases but no one mentioned how they adapted their cases. AA has one for $600. Anyone using something else? It would be nice if I could clock the case. I read in one of the threads that the mini case hangs low- anyone have pictures? Thanks

Marlin is probably an option too tho..

I don't think Marlin is making one for the 700R4 and the like but I know AA is as well as Downey. I pla on runnining this one due to the length. http://www.downeyoff-road.com/EngineComponents/Adapters_Pickup.html

You might want to call Marlin. His site mentions the availability of the 700R with a toybox but does not show any info...

I've got the AA unit, and had talked to Marlin about his - you basically buy the Toybox adapter for a 700R, but you just run the t-case instead of using only the reduction housing..

IIRC, the Marlin one replaces the input on the Toy case with a female, making for a much shorter adapter...

But, I have approached a pretty well known Toyota fabricator and he's looking into making a 700R4 - minitruck case clocking ring, to get that low-hanging front output up level.. I should know if it can be done in a week or 2...

my crossmember hangs just a bit below the frame on purpose, and the t-case's drain plug (with the low-pro one) is 1.5" below.

As a result, I had to angle the skid down at the rear..

Oh, and you will most likely use a 2-piece driveshaft.

Annd, if you were keeping the body, some perspective... the front of the stock tunnel fit with it like that, the rear needed a little trim... I was setting it up to be no lower than the frame when these were taken, so the t-case rear output is higher than it ended up being.

I need some advice about front driveshaft clearance--
I just spoke with Dean at Marlin and he says Downey makes 2 adapters for this- one is 3.3" (this one Downey buys from AA) and the other is around 5". Dean says I need the longer one to ease front driveshaft issues since I'm only using a single 4.7 case rather than a doubler.
Rich- it looks like you have dual cases in your picture- will I be able to make this work with a single case?

The marlin adapted 700r4 is a modified downey 1" adapter plate. .It uses a new tailshaft that will allow you to use the 21 or 23 spline normal input gear on a minitruck tcase. The tailshaft is a female shaft on the 700r4 and male on the Tcase side. The AA one is a spud shaft with a carrier bearing assembly I think. And i'm guess like most AA adapters like about 4" long.
I used a total spline input gearset 23spline from marlin thus he had to machine it to fit a new seal around the total spline input gear. If using a normal tcase you probably don't need to have it machined.
The AA one will not need to have the tailshaft replaced.. The Downey/Marlin one does.. Hope that helps. EC

And the Marlin one does not use a female input if going to a 700r4.. The toybox uses a female and is offered in 10 and 19 spline. If going to a 700r4 you will not need the front of a toybox adapter just the back and use the stock minitruck input but replace the front piece with the downey one, machined or not for the total spline..

Single case in mine. You might be confusing the actual 700R4-RF1A adapter for a crawler box, but that's just the adapter...

The AA kit does include a new tailshaft for the 700R4, fyi.
