Looks like a FST...I think I even spy a vader light! Could be a decent rig!

No affiliation

You guys see any red flags? I’m not super knowledgable on what to look out for. I may go look at it. Seller says pretty solid. Frame looks awfully shiny! I like it though.

@EStein, If you are looking for one, this appears to be a great start and a fair price. you need to move fast. It may already be gone as it was posted 2 days ago.

I’m guessing he painted the front of the frame when he put that new bumper on. He’s painted the rear bumper also. Looks super solid to me. I’d jump on it if I didn’t live 2,000 miles away...though I bought mine out of Oregon and shipped it 🤔

As @oregon fj noticed, no footman loops and the paint on the tailgate doesn't match, so probably not an FST. Probably an added tailgate and bondo where barn door hinges went.

I agree, looks solid for the price. Also agree the missing footman loops would indicate not an FST, but it does have holes in the A pillar where the eyelets for an FST go also has the "vadar light" in the correct location so I would bet it is an FST.
If you are close and in the market, I'd go take a look, it won't last long

FST or not should not affect this truck much. It appears solid and the engine bay looks really clean. What carb is on this or is that sniper fuel injection set up. Also do i see a brake booster? Seems like nice upgrades

I like the original mouse ears on the battery hold down.

looks like footman loops to me???

if it had half doors I would think there would be evidence of the lower hinge, screw holes

does he have any of the FST parts... i.e bows, soft doors, etc?

The more I look at this rig the more I like it

says he has 90% of the hardware and both doors. Didn’t have the tailgate when he found it so he added that. firm on the price. not exactly what I’m looking for so I will probably stand down but the seller is very responsive and answers all questions. Seems Reasonable.

Only you know what you are looking for but based on your previous posts of the half assed "resto" cars you posted, this thing is the cats meow. You should go look at it and test drive it as it is relatively close to you. You can add disc brakes and even add paint and interior if those are your needs. Did you get additional pictures or information that is making you run away from this one?

This is well said - when I have friends looking for 40s my opinion is always try and find one with original paint (which is getting difficult to do these days) so you know what you are getting (unless you want a crawler or something).
Be skeptical of shiny paint!!

No. I guess I just have it in my head that I want a 2F and a 4 speed. Then I end up beating myself up because this one seems to be really solid. I’m ready to pull the trigger. I just want it to be the right one with no regrets. Would like to keep it and pass it on to my kids someday. ..... and come on, they weren’t all half assed restos! 😂

Well on the positive side, the 3 speed just means you don't have to shift as many times. In the end it has the same final gear ratio and if you're going off road and need the the lower first gear, then just shift into 4 lo. Plus you have built in theft deterrant system and can carry 3 across the front with the column shift. I don't know the exact numbers but the F engine aint far behind the 2f in power. Yes it does't have great oil filter system but just change the oil often but it is no more or less reliable than the 2F. I think the biggest reason switch out to the 2f is their availability and cheap cost.

If you don't go take a look, you'll be kicking yourself. If you do go take a look and it is a POS, then you can feel good about your decision or...it will hook you.. Drive it and see if you like it. Bring the cash with you and buy it. As we debate this, someone from here on MUD has likely made the same phone calls you have and is likely trying to buy this. Can a better deal be found? yes. Can you find a 75 or newer in this condition at this price? They are out there but the flippers are quicker to react and likely scoop it up before you have the chance.

Here's another 70 that just popped up in NorCal....(wish I had extra $$ right now)
