With enough time, money and fab skills anything will fit. How much of each do you have?

It is a bigger physical size engine, not just bigger in displacement. I wouldn't want one in anything, and I consider myself to be a Ford guy. When I started looking for a diesel pick-up I considered all of the pre '96 options (no smogging of a diesel for me) and the Cummins was the clear winner. Too bad it comes wrapped in a Dodge. The PSD's don't have a great track record around here, lots of little electronics bugs that no one (independents, Dealer, or Navistar) seem to be able to diagnose & fix.Would the 7.3 be that much bigger that a 6.2 chevy
Don't have the physical dimensions, but the dry weight is 920#. Produces 250-275 HP, and 505-520 #ft of torque. Easy to beat that with a 6bt. JohnWould the 7.3 be that much bigger that a 6.2 chevy

Having had both sitting on my driveway at the same time, no, it's not a small block. It is bigger than a small block Chevy. If the heads were wide enough for splayed valves it would be as big as a gasser big block Chevy. Since they're not a splayed valve design the engine isn't quite as big as a BBC.the ford 7.3 is a 444ci. big block motor.
a 6.2 chevy is a small block.
Because there are better diesels available.
The 7.3 PSD is a fine diesel. Stock vs. Stock there is no significant difference between it and a similar vintage 5.9 Cummins.
I was talking about the 6.2 Diesel that geofro mentioned.
