Hey everyone, new member here. My aunt daily drives a 68 fastback, she is the second owner of the car and loves it to death! She was recently in an accident, no one hurt, other guy ran a left turn light. The original plan was to repair it. Even though insurance wanted to total it out, but my aunt couldn’t bare. I am a car enthusiast however I haven’t worked on a vw like this before. However I offered my help to fix it as one, I love my aunt, and two, the shop just saw an old lady and was taking advantage of her. While looking for parts, I found a shell, that looks like it was a project car, and it’s not priced insane. Since there was frame damage from the accident I thought it would be better to get the shell, and rebuild swapping the parts from here car. I will likely be creating a thread to post the journey, and will always be looking for advice on this. I would like to have this car as new as possible for her. So if anyone has any tips knowing what I’m looking to do, I will gladly take it. I will be picking up the shell tomorrow and looking to get it into the paint shop by the weekend.
