That is a good looking rig. Nice to see some original ideas going into a project.

gonna finally start working on the big projects on sunday or monday when i move ito to my buddy's shop. Just been doing smaller things recently like tearing apart the steering box to tap out for the hydro assist. I will probably pull the old F engine out at my house just to make moving it easier. I'll snap some more pix when i get it moved and start finishing it up next week.

I like the color hehe...:flipoff2:.....Nice build....Rod

thanx,
got the cruiser hauled over to my buddy's shop on sunday so that i could start doing the motor swap and cage in it. It sure is alot nicer working in a bigger shop with heat in it.

pushed the cruiser out of the shop and backed my tacoma in to take the old f engine, tranny and t case to my storage unit.

on wednesday i started cutting the firewall and the floor plan for the new drivetrain. the fzj80's engine, tranny and tcase is about 20" longer than the old drivetrain. I probably could have gotten away without cutting up so much of the firewall but didnt want to have to cut more after i started to get the engine in. I still had to cut more for the t-case though.

yesterday i was finally ready to start putting the engine into the cruiser. almost like putting a square peg into a round hole.

im gonna go over tomorrow morning and start making some new motor mounts for it. I thought i would be able to use the stock ones from the fzj80 but they sit the engine to low in the engine bay so the new ones are going to be about 2-3 " taller and tie into the coilover hoops. I might even have to move the rear axle back a couple more inches. right now the rear driveshaft is sitting at about 20" long and i'd like it a little longer

Sweet .. and you would keep the A442 ?
For now i will and see how it works in the rig. I don't really want to mess with the engine tranny tcase combo right now until i get it running and all wired in.

Well i was out of town for a couple days and finally got back in the shop today. Ended up making a new transmission crossmember out of 1.5x3x.120 box tube. a freind came over also today and helped bend up the tranny tunnel and also got the cruiser off the bumpstops and back onto the coilovers. I also got the shock hoop brace put back in so that its removable in case i ever have to take the engine out again.

We also got some of the wiring harness hooked up so that i can start to figure out what i need. I think this is going to take a while to get the harness all figured out.

Well, i've been keeping busy on the cruiser lately. Just haven't been posting much. I got the shock tower cross brace back in with flanges so that i can take it out if the engine ever has to come out. Also had to move the upper link on the front axle over an inch or two because it was hitting the frame when the axle was flexing out. I ended up moving the rear axle rearward also because i messed up with the transfer case rear output and there was no way to run a rear driveshaft without it hitting the y-link. Also by moving it back more i can run stock toyota driveshafts front and rear. Actually the front shaft is from a long bed toyota pickup i believe and the rear will the front shaft of a pickup. should make finding spares easier

I got started on the cage and redoing the rear suspension. when i moved the axle back i decided to get rid of the coil springs and just go with coilovers in the rear just as in the front. This required changing the rear frame and making it narrower to fit the 14" coilovers. Here is were im at until i get some more tubing. I will have to rework the inner fenders and floor pan to fit the new rear section.

I like it, keep posting up and you will get the feedback.
Gawd 115" looks long, are you still at 115" or did that number grow when you moved the rear axle back?

nice work using stock drive shafts.!!

I got the rollcage done for the most part. I just have to weld up some of of the ends and add some gussets and bars for the seat harnesses. I also got the seats mounted in there where they need to be.

I ended up getting the 94 factory service manuals for the 94 drivetrain and the wiring manual. Now i can start to get this thing ready to run. Just need to get a battery and make a fuel tank. I also need to drill the hysteer arms that i made for it to fit the tierod into and make an axle bracket for the hydro assist ram so i can get it run to the steering box. on the hysteer arms i am also gonna drill another hole for a third bolt to tie them into the knuckle.
