Hello,

Longtime, no post.
My FJ40's windshield vent, hinged by the rubber gasket material, has developed a tear about 90% across the "flexible hinge" created by the gasket material. Anyone care to share a thought on how to repair?

Thanks fellas.

CR?Pola. I really wasn't looking forward to drilling, but if I must. I need to find a very flat cutter so I don't ding up....nevermind. The welding is going to take care of the paint isn't it?

UGH

Okey dokey. Found a spot weld cutter at northern tool, looking for gasket.... Part 120-11A at SOR, $24.99. Ih8mud...priceless.

Next project...wiring. I have little electrical gremlins that occasionally turn off the '40 when I am putting about. And I found a canvas shop (MN-10,000lakes-lots of boats-boats need canvas...)that is interested in doing a top from scratch. Not going to mention the $3k priced one in Mass on the cape. But, need to sell the house in NH first. Anyone need a 6BR, 5 bath house in Hillsboro, NH??

Phenomenal. I have the original windshield frame, glass & glass gasket - but the same issue with the vent opening & trim/gasket. Great link to the repair ! Thanks JohnnyC.
