62 fender replacement

I am looking at an 88 FJ62 with extenxive rust to doors, rocker panel, and front fenders. What's involved in replacing the fenders? I want this LC but am spooked by the rust. My 83 FJ60 isn't rusted close to this bad. But the owner is only asking 950.00. The interior looks new and the engine runs well. Thanks for the help.

950, dude get it, get a good welder and restore it. you'll learn some crap about welding and have a sweet ride to boot.

$950? You could spend that on a 10 year old, beat to crap ATV. The Cruiser will go many places you would take the ATV and also go down the hwy at 70MPH. Unless the frame is rusted badly, the exterior rust is can be worn as a badge of experience.... Or, a couple days with a wire wheel, some POR-15, Bondo, some flat tan, green & black spray paint and you got a sweet camo war wagon.

Hehe...this is exactly the path I'm on. Here in Michigan...all we have are rusty wagons to choose from in the 80's models. I just grabbed one myself for cheap. I've been driving it to work for the last week while my $42,000 dollar pick-up truck is sitting in the driveway collecting tree-sap!

My wife doesn't get it...the darn thing makes me grin ear-ear everytime I drive it.

It's a fair deal if you can do the work yourself. If not, buy one that is in good shape and save a bunch of money and trouble.
