Any difference? I personally like the look of the projector style housing and will be going with the HID while I am at it. If you had to pick between the two below, which would be the better choice, if there is even a difference.

eBay Motors: *HID* 91-97 LAND CRUISER FJ82 HALO PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS (item 310105513192 end time Dec-31-08 17:53:14 PST)

Most factory HID lights are 4500k-5000k. If you want that super white light, go for the 5000k-6000k range. The 8000k lights are going to look blue moving towards purple.
The aftermarket HID kit I had in my Volvo was 5000k, and was fantastically bright and white.

the higher you go, the less light output you will get. Also, the bluer-violette color you get, the more tired your eyesight will be. There are post here on mud and online explaining it with detail.

Somewhere.... SEARCH and you will find....

I think I will go with the 6000K and see how they work... I am leaning more towards the black instead of the chrome. The new cruiser is all black and am in the process of blacking out the grill, rims, etc...

Are you going to modify the headlight housing? Isnt the light pattern differant with these? Or am I mistaken?

6000k for me, and that would be my upper limit.

Why and or what would have to be modified on the housing? Making the purchase.

Probably nothing if you're not a purist. What you buy is an unmodified housing with HID ballast and rebased bulbs. The bulbs are modified to fit the housing. These are bulbs which have a H1 or H7 (don't remember) base. This is basically plug and play.

Ideally you would need to put a HID-specific projector lens in place and use the 'proper' D2S bulbs. See this: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/182029-tutorial-hid-conversion-bling-headlights.html

You will also have a different light pattern (cutoff line) from those projectors. But this is nothing to worry about.

Not a purist... If I can't live with the light as they come then I will think about "True" HID conversion. I purchased the black version. Time will tell how they look on a black cruiser. I will be sure to post pics once they are installed.
