Hey does anyone know if the grill and lights from a 60 will fit on a 62?, I think the fenders are different, but am not sure.

There was a thread on this a while back- but when I tried to search it I came up with little info. There was some discussion as to whether or not the fenders are interchangable. But supposedly the valence is the same. It seems to me that the fenders are the same, but I would guess that the grill is smaller due to the fact that there are two lights per side versus one. And obviously there will be headlight mods needed.
I am interested to see the responses to this as I am in the process of buying my first 62 and have two 60's available for parts, and am wanting to do this myself. Good luck and I will be watching this post.

yea I am thinking for some wierd reason there are more high output lighting options for a 2 system vs a 4 system,, and I think it looks better,,,

you wanna sell a 60 front end for this mod?

What's a matter, no love for the beautiful 4 square headlights of the 62? They actually grow on you over time. Also if you compare the 62 with an FJ80, you can see the transition from the old to the new in the basic shape of the headlights and the grill.

Although I have learned to love the 4 square headlights of the 62, I once considered converting to a 60 fender, valance, radiator core support, headlight, grill, etc., combination. I reckoned it to be a lot of work. I also recknoned that it would be more cost effective to sell the 62, buy a 60, and put a 5 speed tranny in the 60. A new OEM 5 speed is $1800.00. You would probably spend close to that doing a 62 to 60 conversion.

I have been thinking of using my 60 for parts as well. Not sure if its worth it though... you could always do any engine swap instead 2F --> 3FE :D

I have an '89 62 (my first Cruiser) that I have been slowly working on for the past few months, my goal was to semi restore the vehicle. However, since I've begun the project, I realize that I like the looks of the 60 much better. My understanding of what I've read on this site and elsewhere is that as far as the body is concerned the fenders are slightly different as are some other front end pieces. My concern is more in the wiring for the lights. Does anyone know if the 62 wiring will work with the 60 lights? Also, can the 60 grill bolt up to the 62? I don't believe selling the vehicle at this point and buying a 60 is a viable option. I'd appreciate any of your thoughts and expertise.

I like the 62, been driving it for 5 years, was just wondering as I am soooooo close to making it a trail rig, I have no rust and a little body damage,, used it as a tractor once hit a tree, backed into a metal pole and damaged the bumper, slight scrape down pass side, dents in hood and roof,, but other than that,,,, it is good,, doors rockers fenders, windows etc,,, sounds worse than it is,,,

I was thinin,, there were more upgrade options for the headlights on a 2 sys than 4 sys,,,
