UPDATE:

The new OEM glass (56111-90A06) now has a different marking on it:

AGC: Asahi Glass Corporation

It's a nice hunk of glass at $1,162.70.

I also had the front PS door glass replaced with OEM as well as the rear quarter glass replaced with OEM as well.

Hey, this is the reason I pay for insurance. So, a 1985 FJ60 with 250K miles on it will have over $2500 of new OEM glass on it (the rig, with all of the modifications and current condition was valued at $8400).

:grinpimp:

Wow... Must be the ground-up diamonds they use as laminate :D

What about replacing the chrome accent strips around the windshield and gasket? I can't imagine that not getting screwed up when you pull the old glass, are there part numbers from Toyota for the Chrome pieces?

Yup. Those are all available from Toyota.

$330-ish for Safelite to come do it at my office and put in a new gasket. The first guy worked on it for 2 hours and couldn't get it all the way in. He came back later with help and got it. They did manage to re-use all of the chrome with no issues

Do you know what brand glass they used RM? Seems pretty standard cost and nice that they were able to save the chrome strip and re-use it. I got a buddy that does glass for a living so he said he could get me a good deal on the precision gaskets and locking strip if I wanted and then would look at my glass and evaluate how good the PGW was. Our friends use him for all their shop installs (they own a truck accessories shop) and have never had problems with his products.

A side followup to my original question: for those of you have done this through your own insurance, did you get a rate bump for filing a glass claim?

On my OTLC's, I have filed replacement glass claims and never gotten bumped. My new insurance company says it will bump me up, however, for a comprehensive claim. They won't say how much, so it's hard to figure out whether to file a claim.

No rate bump on my policy since the accident and replacement.

Over the past fifteen years here in NM I have had four windshield claims on two trucks. Now, both of them have cracked windshields which I will have to replace at my own expense since my insurer has told me one more glass claim and it will be syonara.

Too much gravel on the roads owing to uncovered crushed rock trucks heading to the moly mine. They seem to be exempt from tickets. You don't suppose there is political influence at work here?

Some updated part numbers of the glass I am having replaced.

Was the PS A-pillar rust-repair ?

And man, that front glass is so clean, it's like it's not even there :D

:hhmm:

Ah, ergo the ergo for the paint job-in-progress.

Gotcha.

I think $200 replaced by a local guy in MO where the rig is staying with family.
