My HJ61

My first post here. Here is my Hj61 ready for touring . Weighs over 3 tons as shown and is sitting down a little at the rear as a consequence . The truck was bought about four years ago as a grey import from Japan so it features a 24 volt electrical system .
12HT turbo diesel motor and factory diff locks .Factory mechanical winch and 190 litre aftermarket fuel tank . ARB bull-bar that I modified to fit around the winch and a home built rear bar with wheel carrier and LED taillights . The truck used 11.1 litres per hundred kilometers in this configuration on a recent trip to Far North Queensland . I think this translates to about 22.5 miles per US gallon . Speeds were generally kept to under 100 kph. Great forum . Very informative .

did i see your rig on I40 this weekend? maybe saturday between nashville and cookeville about 4:30?

Yup I would say that you did - we were coming back from a camping trip out at Fall Creek Falls :D

cool. guess i should post some pics of my diesel 62 since we're practiacally neighbors.

bought mine a year ago from the guy who had the 1hz/h55 installed. everything else was pretty much stock.
so far i've done this:
ome heavy duty(front add-a-leaf is in the garage)
arb front
rebuilt 8274
kaymar rear
rebuilt cable locker axles(front with 4runner upgrade(master cyl in the garage))
procar front seats
quadratec console
speaker upgrade
new tires and old wheels(painted black)
de-chromed

my current ongoing project is to get the a/c working. it came without the correct compressor but i finally have it. i had some new lines made. bought a new condensor cuz i boogered up the threads on the old one and bought a new dryer. just gotta get it all put in and charged up-now that it's starting to cool off, but hey, it'll be hot again next year, right?

my future plans include installing the master cylinder and front add-a-leafs. install the new BEB's that came with the truck and then a turbo will not be too far off.

I trust that you know Dan, Don & Kevin...

If that was directed towards me, the only Dan I have ever met in regards to Cruisers would be at 4WheelAuto. Other than that, I have yet to meet the other guys.

1982 fj-61 / 1982 fj-60

Mostly previously owned by Japan Rail West and brought over in pieces:

A 1982 RHD FJ61 folded and massaged into a 1982 FJ-60 to pass california emmisions. Rear barn doors and some very creative hose routing to get ac and ps working. I used the leftovers to build a matching trailer. BTW i found a surge brake that perfectly meshes with the stock rear brakes :)
