Also got the most important part for the set up today.... test fit was a success.

Got the header off and look at all that room!

Then I put the stock exhaust and intake I got from @S4Cruiser thanks again Jon it was great getting to BS with you and check your trucks.

So back to the 60.... got home and quickly got it all back togetherish... and :censor:.....

All my room was gone turbo wouldn’t fit (for now) with the internal waste gate...

After I took off the waste gate though it fits down there sorta I have a very small gap for the adapter... this was discouraging at first but still want to try and move forward...

Options so far make it fit...
try or work out an external waste gate.

I would highly recommend a remflex gasket for the intake/exhaust for your final install. I'll be watching this thread for sure. If I could afford it I'd turbo everything!

It was this or a bumper and I think I made the right choice I can always make a bumper haha but really a Craigslist turbo started it all....

And I’ve been looking at the remflex gasket and because this isn’t being machined flat I might just go for it. I hope this is at least half as fun for everyone else as it is for me.

IIRC I have a manifold gasket at the house I'll let go for cheap.

I've seen guys with 2H turbos do a U shaped adapter and sit the turbo next to the manifold, above the steering shaft. Would that work better?

That internal wastegate actuator is absolutely massive, damn.

Yeah if you have one that would be great I’ll shoot you a message.

That’s what I’m thinking if I can’t find a way to move the internal waste gate just a-little To give me another inch or so. Is it really that big I don’t have anything to compare it to so I thought it was normal haha.

The only think keeping me from the u as of right now is doing the exhaust. Now I know it will fit bit I want to make this as clean as possible I’m trying to find a way that makes it almost look like it could belong there. I have some flex pipe I’ll use today though to mess around with the idea of a u adapter.

this thing will be awesome when done

@lt1fire and @TachedOutOffRoad

Thanks guys hoping it works out and can get this back out on the road

So messed with it alittle but yesterday and frustratingly can’t really find a good spot to make this fit, this waste gate is killing me right now.

Wanting to put this plan on the shelf till I find a smaller turbo but kinda feel like I’m just being a little b!t&$.....

So plan of now is give it another try and clock the turbo if needed.

Things I still need
-block off plate for stock fuel pimp
- electric fuel pump
-1:1 boost variable fuel pressure regulator
-oil return line fitting for the oil pan

I’ll post some pictures alittle later with how it could sit if I u the adapter like @GLTHFJ60 had suggested and see what you guys think.

Thinking of Cruiser related innuendos:

Boy I'd like to flip her bezel...
I bet she hangs out with other pesky heater hoes
I'd like to rub her mudflaps

That's all for now..

So I didn’t think much of it at first but my waste gate won’t open, at first I thought it’s ok the actuated needs to be activated to get it to work...but its already disconnected everything should open. I tried cleaning it up seems stuck. Project might get put on hold though till i find a smaller turbo to make fit anyways.

I got a small turbo from a JDM spec 2000 Forester. I can take some pics/measurements if you want.

I’ll PM you but recent house hold needs and my wanting to drive the truck again might put this on hold I made a cardboard cutout of how much space I have with the stock manifold so I can keep trying on a work bench till I figure out the right configuration.

Stupid needing new floors....

so you may be selling that turbo???

Cx racing makes a turbo kit for the 258 jeeps. Maybe you could use their turbo instead and use a external wastegate.
I’ll check that out I might go that way but my plan plan still stands as finding a way to set up a blow through system while retaining a stockish look and from what I see an external what’s gate brings in some more pipe at least more than I want to try and do...

so you may be selling that turbo???

Not yet I’m not giving up on this ... who knows maybe I’ll get an 80 to replace my Jeep someday....
