I wanted to start this because I like more than likely will be trying to draw from the club knowledge a lot while I will do the same from the 60/Desiel forum nothing like help from the locals! Also I don’t want to muddy up chat or TWT will all my nonsense.

So I was playing with the idea of trying to do something new to the 2f for a while weather is was a 2fe hybrid from the 3f or adding a AFI kit and then I joked around at work like I’m just gonna slap a turbo on it... first comment I got was no balls you won’t do it...so here we are lol

I started looking for a CT-26 from a 2h because I felt it would work well for the 2f as well what I didn’t know was that it was also run on the Supra so a few Craigslist searches later I found this little guy for 30$ and couldn’t be happier no in out play very little side to side play spins free and doesn’t seem to have any scaring or cracks so works for me!

So as far as my set up I’m still new to turbos, is it the best idea for a novice to be adding a turbo to a non turbo carbureted engine... no am I going to do it anyways... yes! (insert mad scientist laugh here)

The plan
Turbo and pluming....

The turbo is a CT-26 off a Supra MK3 I’m going to make an adapter to go from the stock 2f manifold to the turbo with a slight bend to angle it above the steering and below the brake Master cylinder.
I want to add a small inter cooler with same side in and outlets to minimize plumbing. I’m running a Weber and the plan is to fit it with a turbo hat I guess you call it and that should be about it as far as air plumbing.

Oil to and from the turbo....

I know there is a T I have to put in for the oil inlet still working on this... and then add a return point in the top of the oil.

Fuel...
I’ll get back to you on that

Gauges....
Same as above... i know I’m going to run a Fuel air mixture gauge, boost, and still reading about what more I need remember I’m new to turbos haha

So far that’s what I’ve got but it’s enough to get the ball rolling I hope by putting this on mud too I can get enough peer pressure to make sure it gets done in a timely manner!

Sounds good. Should be done in 2 weeks, right?

Ha! For the flange maybe problem 1 is I can’t weld.... but I want to do a lot of this myself so I’m kinda stuck while I want to do it I don’t want to screw up 100$ worth flanges. So I’m talking to the welding instructor at the local community college to see if someone can help me out or might just go to a muffler shop

Problem 2 is a stock exhaust manifold ... i don’t have one so I have to buy I’m trying to do this as cheap as I can but still use decent stuff.

Awesome project

I think the CT26 was used on all I6 diesels from toyota that were charged along with the 3sgte and the 7mgte

If you get a plan together and get the materials, you can come over to my place (assuming the bay is empty by the time you're ready) and use my welder.

Thanks man and yes that’s why I was so happy to find it I think this would pair fairly well with the 2f I’m shooting for 6-8lbs boost and not blow up the motor which I think will be fine since I’m not trying to go for like 15.

Awesome I might take you up on that can I barrow your welding skills to? haha

So this is basically what I want to do very simple I’ll take a exhaust flange from a 2f and a flange for the turbo from eBay and use alittle exhaust tube between with a small bend this is one @wheelin62 did for his I really like how it turned out and is kind of my template.

As of now these are my flanges unless I find something cheaper

There's a new "flying brick" in town, and I always thought that tag was for Volvos. Looking forward to reading how it turns out.

My brick won’t fly but maybe it’ll float up hills after all this and I’ll hopefully be working through this and keeping it updated might slow down for a week kids birthdays and stuff but goal is to be done before relic run!

I can’t pay you if I have to buy fancy new stuff.... For now I’ll run with the Weber and see where it takes me ... dead truck mild success... or full success won’t know till I try haha

Well not a huge start but getting there..

Trying to clean up the engine bay on the driver side to add alittle room to finagle and make sure I have room for the turbo... and for now i took the bracket that holds a lot of the emissions stuff that’s not on the truck anymore.

Next step is going to be an order to rock auto to get manifold gaskets and rubber power steering line to get it out of the way.

Then get the exhaust and old style intake manifold Without the smog stuff all over it.

Hey so I've got an AEM boost gauge that you can have. You'll have to find the right sending unit, but it's yours for free if you want it.

Yeah that would be awesome! Next time I’m out in Greensboro if you wanna meet up I’ll trade you a beer from somewhere for it.

Cool. No need on the beer - it was given to me as a freebie, so I'm passing along.

Got my exhaust flange! Thanks to my old man @landcrusher909 for tracking one down out of the “stash”.

While looking for more room for this turbo thing I noticed something missing.... intake around the stud has some wet fuel around it.

First round of parts on order.

Now moving to gauges and oil, and coolant lines for the turbo.

Also pumped because one of the college instructors for the weld department said he might be able to get the flange all welded up for me if I just drop it off after exams.

Does that "college instructor" have the last name of Poplin?

Not sure didn’t catch his name, blacksmithing instructor at ACC. I’ll have to ask next week

Got the exhaust flange sand blasted and ready for the next step still waiting on the turbo flange...

But today I did have time to get some quick work done on the truck and got the carb and intake manifold off as well as removed the power steering line trying to move it and make it fit more toward the headlight than how it usually sits toward the cab.

Just have the exhaust pipe bolts down there and the header is ready to come off. I’ll try to do some more cleaning and make as much room as I can before the turbo goes in.
