question for those that have done a 5" lift or have one. I have just finished putting on Slee's caster plates today. It made a huge difference in steering!! for the better.I am asking this question because I cant seem to find out where this noise or what this noise is coming from. this noise happens when I take my foot off the gas. it is sorta scaring  me cause i dont know what it is. it kinda sounds like the transfer case as it stops rotating, but i m not sure. has there been similar tcase noises with others that have done this lift or even the 6"? I have the slee double cardan front shaft, the rear adj upper control arms, i am getting ready to install the adjusters in the panhard rods here in a week or so. my other question is are these noises a common happening when you lift and alter your truck?
thanks

It is one of the u-joints in either the front and rear drive line that do not like the angles. So did you put in a whole lift or did you just install the castor plates? I see you have the Double cardan front drive line, Your rear adjsutalbe control arms are not adjusted right or you need new U-joints in the rear, or you need the rear double carden drive shaft.. I see you have stuff, what is insalled at this time? later robbie

robbie,
I have everything that is on my signature installed. I have had the j springs, double cardan, brakelines, sway bar drops, upper control arms, with the ome catser bushings on for a couple of months. I installed the 1.5" spacers last weekend. then today I pressed out the ome bushings ,and installed some new oem ones, and did the caster plates. the plates really helped !! but since last weeks 1.5" install the noise has been there! Is there a good way to know if the upper control arms are adjusted correctly?
Thanks

To tell if your arms are adjusted correctly, your front and rear drive flanges on the drive shafts should be as close to parrallel as possible, note, not vertical, or horizontal, but PARALLEL!

Also if you can try driving with either the front or rear driveshaft removed and the center diff locked to see what drive shaft is vibrating. I currently get a vibration in my front cv driveshaft when I let off the gas while running slee arms, J springs, and 20 mm of OME packers.

I have a suspicion it is your front drive shaft since the noises happened after your added the caster plates.

I would suspect the rear as he does not have a double cardan rear drive shaft. Does the sound come from the front or the rear of the vechicle? You will need a magnetic angle finder, pull the drive shaft for the best reading, then put the angle finder on the drive flange and measure the degrees you see. One other quick test is to switch the rear drive shaft around(put the rear of the drive shaft to the transfer case, Vise verse). see if the noise changes, if so you have found your problem. You may have bad u-joint also, it now does not like the new angles you have subjected the drive line to. good luck later robbie

u-joint going bad. Had that on the 4runner

I did get a chance yesterday to adjust the rear upper arms. it has helped but still can tell there is a vibration when i let up on the gas. I guess i will try the take loose each driveshaft and see which one it is for sure and then go that way for repairs, either a double cardan for the rear or hoefully not the ujoint for the new front double yet ? we'll see!!
thanks for all the ideas and suggestions!
