you need to take a step back and a deep breath......

Conversions don't get done in a week. Not unless you've done a number of them and you're extremely familiar with the subject matter. Even then it'd be challenging.

Sounds like you have at least 3 unrelated issues:
1) o2 sensor codes
2) not shifting into od
3) fuel smell

pick one, do your homework, get it fixed and move onto the next one.

#1 should be simple to figure out by getting the code definitions and working your way thru the alldata procedures as already recommended by others.
#2 we've already discussed. You have to have a working mlps switch that's wired into your harness as discussed.
#3 find the leak. I'd start by looking at the feed and return lines. If they're not leaking then inspect the vapor canister hidden in the passenger rear of the wagon. Pull the interrior panel and see what's going on. There are very few places for a fuel leak. Should be very easy to figure out.

Take a day or two off, clear your mind and then come back to it with a positive approach.

If you've gotten this far, then theres no reason you can't get the job done.

Swaps can be frustrating! Get an econo / beater as a DD untill you have the problems ironed out.

i have replaced the altenator and battery and i am still not getting a charge. the conection is good and really dont understand what to do next.

Do you have good grounds? between engine, frame, body, battery, t-case, etc?

How are you determining that you aren't getting a charge? volt-meter on batter? Stock voltmeter?

i am determining that i am not getting a charge by
1) dead battery over a period of driving or sitting
2) voltmeter on leads
3) my scan guage is bouncing between 9-12.5 volts while driving

yes i do have good grounds

How did you wire it? It needs a something to excite it in order for it to work. Did you do that? You need to look at your wiring diagram and see if it is hooked to the correct terminal on the ecm. As I believe 99+ are all ecm controlled.

i didnt do the wiring harness, howell did all the wiring. Also i get a charge from time to time but is not often enough to keep the charge on the battery.

Did howell install the harness on your truck? Either way you need to check it. Did the howell harness have one wire that plugged into your alternator? Typically it takes only one connection from the ecm to the alternator plus the heavy wire to the battery. Sometimes the alternator plugs have multiple wires so how are you sure you made the correct connection? Did the harness specify where to hook up to? If it is actually charging it should be above the voltage you posted.

Get it towed to a shop......

You have gone so far, it would be a shame to give up now.

Zack1978, I've read your thread twice over the last year as if it were a novel....but it stops so abruptly! What happened? Did you get the bugs worked out and you've just been too busy driving that new v8, or dare I guess there isn't such a happy ending to the story? I hope the best.

the alternator has wires running to it that control it. have you checked the pin-outs/wiring diagram on them to make sure they go where they are supposed to?

It sounds like these issues might be wiring related, i'd probably start like gorge said and check on item at a time as far as wiring goes. start at the part, then follow it's wires to see if they go where they are supposed to (not physically, but with wire colors and a multi meter)
