Found a link to just the bumper stuff-

http://www.4x4labs.com/products/bumpers.html

BTW- I have no affiliation to 4x4Labs or Luke other than being a happy customer. I like how he approaches problems and solutions he comes up with. There are not many really solid commercial rear bumper options out there for 60 series trucks. I'm not a fabricator yet and this was a good solution for me.

That is some nice work. Not being critical at all but there are a few things to think about:

The tire looks like it is pretty far out from the body. On the good side you dont bash the window out when you back up into a rock; the bad side is that you hit your tire when you back up into a rock. I like the big ass wagon to have as little crap sticking out as possible.

The side protection looks great and seems to be tied in well. I perfer to cut the 1/4s and gain that extra room under there but it looks like his design will work like a champ with full 1/4"s.

I am sure there is nothing cheap about that bumper; the quality shows. I love the little struts!

Looks like Luke's making the bumpers a bit more "modular" now -- I see the ladder and tire carrier are both bolt on. IIRC, they used to be welded. Not at all a criticism -- I think it's cool and leaves it open for more/different bolt-on features.

Very nice.

and yeah, Luke is one cool dude :)

Damn. I just noticed... you're carrying two spares now!

The bumper looks great, btw.

Looks awesome.

Nice stout bumper, but most of all I love the double wheel set up. Rear ladder for the rooftop tent is too nice. I'm seriously jealous. Good job, thanks for sharing.

I agree, i like the how "tight" to the body the tire and ladder fits with the 4plus bumber. if only i can get the 4x4 labs bumer and 1/4 protection with the 4plus ladder and tire arms.

what type of rims are on that green cruiser? I think both bumpers look nice and if i was lucky enough to ever get one it would be used, so basically whatever i can find cheap I would go with that brand!! :)

The green truck has OEM 16" rims. JDM or European I'd guess.

The tire carrier is adustable so it can be pushed in a little closer to the window. We didn't really take time to do a test fit. Two bolts sandwich the horizontal tube that has the carrier plate. Not really sure if I've ever been in a spot where it's mattered to have the tire close into the body (backing into a ledge?), but I guess you can get a couple more inches in adjustment.

The ladder is nice out where it is because you don't have to worry about putting the toe of your shoes against the cruiser body.

Maybe some day the engine will go out and I can do a 2F block, but it seems to be going strong (15-17mpg) as it is.

Ditto SCJ006 - think 4X4LABS missed an opportunity to tie the quarter protection to the frame in front. Looks like it might get jammed against the quarter or ripped out without it

I know aournd here( in the south) we have high walls of hard red clay, and its pretty easy to get pinched against one of those. With that design, it would just cut into the walls and not really protect anything. I do like that bumper alot though. Very functional and very stout!!!!!

eshelbyk, do you have any closeup picks of the bumper mounts? Are the tow points part of the mounts?

The mount points use both holes for the OEM tow hooks and a 3rd next to them on the bottom of the frame (it might be a rivet hole? i don't remember). On the side of the frame it uses 5 rivet holes for a total of 8 per side. The other mount point is to stiffen the plate at the front end of the quarter panel plate. A beefy S bracket goes to the body mount bolts.

To answer the post above yours, the quarter plates have 2 things going for them- 1) they're beefy as hell- if you want to see pinched quarters, buy Kaymar :) (this has been a beef of Luke's for a long time and I got to see it first-hand on Hell's Gate). 2) the bracket that ties into the body mount at the front-end of the quarter plate protection.

When I can get it out in the sun and remember to take pics, I'll put a couple up of the mounting points.

BTT for a reminder to take pics. ;)

Got a chance to take some the other night at the shop.

I had to use a fast lens to get enough light so depth of field is pretty narrow..

same, but you get a better idea of location and some of the tow hitch setup-

*whistles*

That's hot. Their bumper is at the top of my "I'm gonna get one ASAP but will probably never afford it" list :D

BTW, I got two of them shirts that I ordered a few weeks ago waiting for me back home.

That looks sweet.

Is the mounting bracket/tow point the same thickness all the way back to the old cross member? What is the size?

BTW, thanks for posting the pics! :)
