one of my old questions was about fixing a stuck transfer case selector,

now i'm taking my 40 up the snow this time, just wondering how you can prevent the 4wd selecting rod in the nose of the TC from corroding, or siezing up. should i grease it each day at the snow, with grease, or gear oil, or what?

This trick works on my dune buggy shift shaft. If I'm goin to be near snow or mud I use spray PAM. It also makes mud fall off the fenders of my m-x bike keeping the weight down for better lap times.

remove the rubber boot and the shift mech. Pull the shaft out and sand it with emory cloth. Clean it all up then gunk the hell out of it with grease during the install. Pack the rubberboot in grease then slip in on. The grease should last for more than a year and will keep the crap out of the shaft housing.
