I have a fj62 and yesterday i was messing with the 4wd.. I put it in 4hi and the 4wd light comes on but it doesnt feel like its in 4wd, still feels like 2wd.. I was wondering if anyone has maybe had this problem .. I tried searching for it but no luck

Start at the start.... hubs engaged?

yea hubs are engaged.. i know its in 4lo because it seems to just want to take off

Okay, to narrow down where the problem lies, in 2wd (light out) with the hubs locked, crawl under the truck (not running) and see if you can rotate the front drive shaft. You should not be able to. If you can, first suspect would be hubs that need to be cleaned cause they are gummed up and not working freely. If you can't turn the shaft, all is well at the axle. Now disengage the hubs, and engage 4wd (so the 4wd light comes on), turn the truck off and crawl under. Try turning the shaft, you shouldn't be able to, if you can, you have a problem at the transfercase (although the light coming on makes me think this will be unlikely).

You usually can feel it if it is engaged when you try to turn hard on blacktop you will feel the resistance in the steering wheel.

Nice explanation RocDoc....you nailed it.

I had a similar problem and it was the metal vacuum line had rusted out.
