ok here is the deal my tc keeps popping out of 4wd so I searched amd read the threatds how to fix it but my question is where is the bolts with the springs????? any help you be great thanks!

so I found where it is and spaced it out, so I put it all back together and the 4wd lights won't turn on and it won't engage into 4wd or go up to 2wd but you can sift it between 4high and 4low

the bolt with the spring is on top of the tcase on the passenger side.
if the light is on in the cab, that means the 4wd is engaged.
you can check this by turning the front drive shaft, if it does not turn freely, the tcase is engaged if the hubs arent locked.

the light will turn off by de-activating the 4wd solenoid. is there is a leak in the hard line from the solenoid to the tcase, it will cause hte 4wd to not disengage

a cheap way to fix the hard line is to replace the with soft lines, i use washer fluid line instead of expensive 'vacuum' line, which in my eyes is the same thing :D

thanks, well I pulled the spring back out and took out some shims and it's working great!!! and it's not popping out!!! guess it just had too many shims

my truck does the same thing... 4 wheel drive engages in both low and hi...but it will pop out of gear (relative to the TC ), I've resorted to using a bungee cord to hold the lever in place when off-road. I guess I'll look at adding a couple of washers one day to see what that does.

I think you are talking about a FJ60 with manaul transfer case right?.... not a FJ62 with vaccum operated TC?

no I am talking about a fj60 and spacing with the washers make sure you dont put in too many becasue it did that and it made it worse so I some out and tested it and I can't get it to pop out so I think it worked
