Really happy to finally have this all done! I got the locker from Poser many months ago for a great deal (NIB) and took forever figuring out how I wanted to wire and install the compressor & switches.
Got to thank my 4Runner friends for lots of advice since I know nothing about electrical stuff, this was a good for me to learn.
Key help from FJ55-100 too. I would call for help when I absolutely hit a dead end  and he got me out! so I got to my goal of making it look "oem" I think.

The AC 115V switch is the ARB compressor switch

ARB compressor mount. I used rubber isolation and it worked, it is actually very quiet. The only visible wires are the two extra connectors on the battery, otherwise it is 'invisible'

The locker install by FourxDoctor

So the install looks good, time will tell if it done right but FourxDoctor comes highly recommended so I'm not worried.

Nicely done. looks very clean.

Hey you think we can get a deal at four x if we both go in at the same time :) a two for one thing

Fourxdoctor just put my locker in this morning! All the people I trust recommended them and their prices are totally fair.

Nice clean install James. It has a good factory look, especially the inside switches. Did you pull the diff yourself, or have 4xdoctor do the remove and replace?

Thanks guys, 4xdoctor did the remove/replace. they only needed to hook the airline and it was good to go. I don't have any experience w/ diffs and didn't want to take any chances.

It was $270 including fluids. They said they put a little bottle of limited slip fluid in there to help keep the rubber seals lubed properly as well.

I will reserve judgement until I really test it out but they were fine to deal with and came recommended by several trusted Toyota friends.

Question:
Do you have to come to a complete stop to engage/disengage the locker? Or can you do it rolling?
Any other "newbie" tips appreciated as well, thanks!

$270 Isn't bad, they quoted me $550 for front and rear install or $300 if I bring the 3rd members in. I'm going to take a chance and bring the 3rd members in.

The ARBs can be engaged while moving slowly, no problem. They may bind a bit on high traction surfaces which will make the steering feel heavy.

THats cool that they did that. At every diff change(rear) I put a bottle of gm limited slip additive in the diff for the locker. Do the same thing at work with the 470's. I do like the install of the switches. Cant beat a clean looking vehicle. And that sounds like a good price for installation.

bh4rnnr,
Thanks that makes me feel better, I had never heard of LSD fluid recommended before so I'm glad it's standard install procedure.

James, looks great! Let me know when you want to go test them. There's not nearly enough pinstriping on your sweet truck ;)

Most excellent James!
Very clean install.
Looks like you're ready for the 'con now ;)

I think I might go real quick up to Rowher this weekend just to break it in.

Azusa Cyn OHV is closed until June btw (that was last I heard from about 3 weeks ago)

James,
Your setup w/ the switches look great! I love the OEM look. Look forward to going to Rohwer this weekend. Will see if any of the other locals want to go. Keep me posted on details.

Steve
