Mt. Lemmon Backroad is closed.

We were in Oracle last night...I fell on ice leaving Nona Maria's as the fountain was spilling over and the wet wasn't water. My back and head are tweaked though Urgent Care said I'm OK.

I would bet (by looking) that the shelf road got about 2-3-ish inches of snow. It was white almost to the trailhead. The forecast lows from now until Wednesday AM (for Oracle...4000-ft...the Gap's shelf road is just ovber that) 22, 27, 31, 32 to each night what's left will re-freeze. The highes are to be 39, 50, 57, and 58. Considering that road is in the shade and the night time temps are so low, my guess is for icy conditions Wednesday AM and slushy conditions on Wednesday PM.

I stopped by the north trailhead this morning and there was 2.5 inches of snow.

It was 22 degrees at 8:15 AM, and the trail only had two sets of ATV tracks on it.

Sunny this afternoon though, so it might melt a bit.

Some Tucson Offroad guys ran it yesterday and I was looking at their pics and video. They went up the shelf road and no issues. If the sun stays out and the temps come up a bit I think we'll be fine. At the time of day we will hit the shelf road it will have gotten some sun and the warmest part of the day will have just passed.

Still, I keep my eye on trail conditions just getting to the creek. If they are bad, we'll turn it around and go over to Chimney Rock.
Looks like Lonnie may be taking a group thru there also that day. He just asked me on TOR which way we're going and what time.

These were taken on Friday just before we left for Kingman. Got home last night about 8, and still some patchy snow in Oracle, but they are forcasting a warming trend the next few days. IMO, I think we'll be good to go...:bounce::bounce2:

I'll stop by and check the Canada del Oro in Catalina on the way home this afternoon.

mothballin' the Pathfinder

If there is still room in the groups, I'd like to drag my FZJ80 out there. Some of you have seen me tag along with Spike when I was driving my Pathfinder. But this will be my first C-Gap trip and only the 2nd trial this truck has seen. (Did DeSoto a few weeks ago) I'll be glad to meet most of you and to reaquaint myself with the rest.

Sure, I'll add you to the list.

Just a quick warning to those around my truck on the trail...no, I did not add squeaky leaf springs to my truck ....i have a lower ball joint that sounds ridiculous, but the reboot kit is on backorder:frown:

Hmmmm, how loud is it?

I could use something to drown out my squeeky bushings.:D

Ok, there is no water in the creek on the Catalina side and no snow on the west side of the gap.

For those wanting to caravan from PHX, the meet place is Circle K on AZ Ave south of 202, at Germann, IIRC on the northeast corner. We need to be rolling south before 6:30am, it's ~90mi.

Easy fix, two choices; One, most Toyota boots are held on by a wire ring, work it and the boot up, put some grease and reinstall. Two; get a grease injector needle, poke the boot to add grease, seal with a drop of super glue or silicone.

Grease needles are commonly available and cheap, look like this;

Plews 05-037 - Grease Gun Adapter Injector Needle 18Ga x 1-1/2in.

No need to poke a hole in the boot. You are able to slide the needle adapter along the side under the boot and pump away.

I will get grease needle and commence the greasing today!!

Thanks
