I picked up a 4spd trans on ebay, 74-80 by position of the yellow wired backup light. Can anyone tell me what the black wired/green plug hook up is for? Can't find it in any parts diagrams.

The switch looks like a back up switch for a 60 series 4 speed, but the Tranny case top is different than the one SOR shows.

I am pretty sure that was used by the emissions VSV to read when you are in 4th gear. Controls dizzy advance/retard. HTH John

That's what I thought too. Also controls EGR which is supposed to be open at steady state cruise.

Doesn't really matter-it sounds like you don't need it.
