What are the differences between the 4runner traction control and the Land Cruiser traction control? I am most interested in the 2001 model years.

Thanks

It works in the 100. Very tightly controlled. Extremely effective for all situations. It's dual mode:
1. Light throttle is for crawling. Stay light on the gas and the system moves the power around to move the vehicle.
2. Apply the gas more and even to full throttle, the system will let the wheels spin freely yet it can still correct for slipping, etc. This is helpful in the mud or snow when you're clawing for traction and need to spin out the guck to maintain traction.

The mistake most 100 rookies make (me once included) is too apply too much gas when crawling. If you do that the tries will spin and you will lose traction. Stay light and constant on the gas and you'll move by letting the truck do the work for you.

The closest traction system to the 100's is found in thelate model Rovers, though it too is 2nd-rate to the 100.

The 4Runner/GX is system is like most others. Too much wheelspin is allowed makig in tough on the truck and to get traction. Worse yet is the Sequoia. It's like many as it will cut power and stop you in your tracks. This will not occur in the 100.

I think I read that when the engine is above 3000 rpm the 3rd gen TC program will cut out - which is a good thing in mud and sand. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work well in all situations according to the guys on Yotatech, there's some pretty long rants on the TC over there.

If they're complaining about 100 TC then they're applying too much gas. They need to apply very little just like aving a locker and let the 100 do the rest.
