Alright, I have a question for the Toyota people. I've got a 93' 4Runner with the crappy 6cyl and want to know what years can I take from to replace it with the 4 cyl. ??? Are some years incompatable? Would I just need exhaust, engine mounts and computer to do the 4cyl??? Is it a lot tougher than this? Do the 4Runners take any chevy applications easier than the 4cyl. Or would it be easiest to just find a 95' Toyota V6(the good one)? Trying to keep it fairly cheap. Thanks for any help on this.

i dont' know how hard it is to convert to a 4 cyl. but i know where there is a low mileage(120,000) 95 4runner with the v6 and auto for $3900. Just PM me if you want more info.

uhhh

What?
I owned a 4Runner that had a 4cyl, and so has about 472 million other people. Next contestant please.

you asked if it would be easier to just find a 95 with a v6.......and i answered that i didn't know about the conversion (how hard it was) but that if you were interested in buying a 95 with the v6 i knew where one was. Then i reposted and apologized because after some careful checking up on the vehicle it only had the 3.0(or so the owner claims)

Sorry to confuse you

Cool

Hey, thanks for clearing it up. I thought that you thought that all 4Runners were cursed with that worthless V6. I almost wanted to cry. Where is the one that you know of for sale (location)???

I think 95's still had the 3.0. Mine is fine, actually has decent power though the mileage sucks.

If you're going thru the effort of an engine and probably a harness swap, do the 3.4 v-6 taco/runner swap instead. It's supposed to be a bolt up to your existing bellhousing and motor mounts. I doubt a 22re is. USE THE SEARCH FEATURE on Pirate4x4.com (if you don't search you'll get flamed and it's unlikely anyone will help you). I think the engine code is 5vz. Someone is making a harness as well to convert.

hey ill PM you. I think he has put it on ebay but ill still give you the info. if i can find it.

Ill tell you something about a 3.0. I thought the one in my 4runner was a dog(no power). I put some new tires on it today and some new plugs(bosh(sP) copper plugs 85 cents from auto zone) and it runs 100% better. I was cruising down the interstate today at speeds at over 90 MPH(accidentally, forgot my speedometer was a little slow)

i just emailed the guy should know by the tommorrow. about the 4runner

I have heard that the 3.4 is sweet. I will prolly start looking for one around here. I agree that some of those Pirates guys are just Vultures that are cherry pickin' on everyone they can. Prolly never married 43 year olds living on a computer in mommy's basement. One guy started punking and I ripped him apart, then he got cool (he must of liked it). Kinda a strange, I think they are just to big, but the tech stuff is sweet. Thanks for any and all info one the options for the Runner. Donkey

Donk,

The guy with the 4runner said he would take 5600 off of ebay. Just thought you might want to know.

Mike Caskey at Off Road Solutions sells a conversion harness for a 3VZ to 5VZ swap. By no means should you even consider a 22RE replacement. The 3.4 nearly bolts in to a 3.0 truck, and with a couple tweaks plus the harness and ECU you will beat any mileage you could hope for with a 22RE, and have power deluxe as well!

The 5VZ into a 22RE truck is quite sweet as well- unfortunately, sweet for the installer too, due to the complexity involved. But Mike did the work and it's first class, and the motor is the best thing I've done for the truck.

Good to know about the difficultly with the 22re to 3.4 swap. Thanks, and say hi to Littleton for me, I used to live near JACKASS HILL. At one time that place was full of Jackasses!!! Army ones.
