I'm possibly trading my fj60 for and 01 4runner limited. Has 175k on it. The water pump and timing belt was done 50k ago so I am going to do that when I get it.

Once all of the mechanics are sorted, I'll be looking to do a medium build on it in couple of months following the purchase and I was wanting suggestions. I'll be using it as a DD, and adventure truck up in MD while I'm stationed there, nothing insane but I will definitely need something capable and reliable.

Right now I'm thinking about doing addicted off roads HD bumpers and sliders, and then OME heavies front and rear, with 33" ko2's on some steelies, but I'm not set on it yet.

I'm looking for suggestions on the build right now. What are your favorite lift kits, bumpers, performance, and other various mods for comfort or storage. GO NUTS!!!

Also going to be building a tool kit for it, does anyone have a link to one on MUD, or have theirs written out? I searched and couldn't find one.

I love my 60 and hate that I need to sell it, so the idea is to build this rig so I have no reason to miss it. I will accept and appreciate any suggestions, advice, stories or jokes you have. I'll post updates as they come.

Personally I don't care for the 01 and 02 models much. They don't offer a locker in those years, and the brakes have the next generation electronic braking system. Personally I love the 99 and 00 models better as you can get a locker, AWD, 4wd, and simpler cheaper to repair braking system. As far as mileage, the difference between 175k and 200k is not much, but people usually pay quite a bit more for less than 200k. My advice is don't be afraid of 200k miles. At this point at the age of the vehicles, they all need some work and have a couple of leaks. Look for one with a locker, they don't cost much more money if at all. I also went for a limited, but if you don't want the electronic climate control and leather then get a sr5. Set aside a fair amount of time and money just getting it all to square one. A lot of these trucks have need for maintenance and repairs. If you get an automatic I encourage flushing the transmision fluid.
For mods I would start with a 2" body lift and then a 2.5" suspension lift. This will help keep COG low. For performance mods don't give into the hype of the deck plate mod or the elbow mod. They help on a dyno, but not in real life driving. A supercharger will give you some good power, keep an eye on craigs for a deal on one.

Awesome thank you for the advice. I was going to figure in getting all of the fluids flushed when I bought it

This one has a center diff lock according to the owner. Ill probably end up doing an arb locker down the road. I have one now and love it.

Ive been told switching to tundra brakes is a great upgrade.

COG?
What size of tires would you run under the 4.5"?

Center of gravity. An arb will be 1200 bucks without installation. With a factory locker, most ppl don't know their truck has one and u can get one for the same price as one without. If u do a lot of mountain passes tundra brakes are nice. I would run a 33 to 35 inch. Will a little help, the rear suspension can get nice travel. Longer front control arms would help front travel.

Check out T4R.org for all the info you need,i have a 99 that i just drop in a rebuilt engine currently at 270k with original trans.
