I generally leave my LC on the driveway when it's caked with snow not to trash my garage with a flood of melt off. Remote started my truck this morning to warm up in the lovely 9f air and when I got in to run the kids to school, I noticed my 4lo light was flashing and it display said "NO tract" with the engine light on as well. I drove one block and it wouldn't change or allow me to hit over 20mph. I stopped and shut everything down "engine off" and restarted and a minute later and it still showed the same messages. I also tried engaging the 4lo and the green light on switch didn't light up. So, I parked the truck back at home and took my girls in the 14' CLS63 s through snow to school and it was just detailed. Lol! Good thing I put Pirelli snow tires on it for the winter. The car didn't miss a beat but had to be very careful with the gas pedal since it has 705hp with the renntech upgrade. Anyways, has this happened to your LC because of cold weather? Seems silly that it can't handle the cold. What if I was camping somewhere or on a road trip. Not cool. Thank goodness for warranties.

When was the last time you engaged 4Lo? It's good to periodically engage it when not regularly used. Whenever I hit a dirt parking lot or dirt road I will throw into 4Lo to keep it ready for when it's needed...

Yup. Same is true for locking the center diff. Once a month or so I will try to remember to lock the center diff while on a straight section, then unlock it before a curve.

I'm sad to report that it has been not been engaged since I bought it 6months ago. Prior to that, I don't know? Been so dang busy and the snow is very deep in the mountains without a winch, chains and a freaking snowcat. Lol

I have had other SUVs that never had this problem including my last 08' 200. Seems weird you have to engage it every month. I do understand the reasoning but it shouldn't simply act this way because it's cold. Now playing if it were -20f I could understand

I don't think the issue is the cold. I think the issue is the time since it was last engaged.

I'm dropping it off at Toyota so they can reset/fix whatever is causing the issue. If not engaging is the cause, either way I will a have good excuse for the wife that I need to off road once a month. :bounce:

Others posted something regarding sensors or wiring. Seems it's in limp mode, if the truck is still with you and you don't have an obd scanner disconnect the battery for a few minutes let it reset and check again might be worth a shot

I thought about doing that. Will try that now

I disconnected the battery and it reset. Hopefully this is a one time deal. I started researching the new G550 as a replacement. Lol! Thanks Desert Nomad and I will also make sure to "test" my 4Lo system monthly :steer:

G550 isn't all that, if you're going benz go the whole way with a G63 amg or better yet the G 4x4^2

As much as I like the G63, it just won't do for Colorado trails. I need to be able to fit at least 18's on it and the G63 suspension is more for street performance vs G550 suspension and because of the huge brakes it won't allow smaller wheels to accommodate bigger tires. The G500 4x4-2 would be awesome but at $254k with its amazing Portal axles, know chance that's in my budget until I put the kids through college.
