That 4bt will have more than enough power, plus it’s about 500 pounds lighter than the 6bt.

True, the 6BT will weigh significantly more than the 4BT. But I don't prefer the 6BT because of the extra power/torque (although that's nice). The advantage of the 6BT for me is the parts availability and aftermarket support.
Have a problem on the road? - You can walk into basically any Toyota or Dodge dealer and get the replacement part.
Want to upgrade the manifold? - No sweat. $500 from any one of the many aftermarket 5.9 suppliers and you're good-to-go.
Want a different turbo? - Aftermarket suppliers have complete kits in stock.
Basically the 5.9 Cummins is such a common and popular motor that the support for it is phenomenal. Any diesel mechanic in America is going to be familiar with it. Sure, the 4BT shares the same architecture, but it's still a different and less common motor.
Plus, the 4BT essentially requires all of the same modifications to the truck to fit that the 6BT does. At that point, why not go ahead and use the more common motor? Aside from the weight of course.
Regardless, it's a really cool truck. And I think it's awesome that people are swapping 4BT and 6BT motors into Land Cruisers at all.

I am getting ready to put the 6bt into our 78 fj55. They are much easier to source than the 4bt, and cheaper. I think that 80 series would be a great ride with the 4bt set up.

Since I’ve owned it i had trans swapped from the auto to nv4500 5-speed. This cruiser runs great and has been a awesome and dependable rig. unfortunately I’m in a position where I have to sell it. I would have to disagree with the idea that a 6bt is a better swap for a landcruiser. The 6bt does have more power but is also 10 inches longer. The 4bt fits much better and will often leave you with room for an inter-cooler that you often have to go without for the 6. The 4 gets noticeably better mileage and can be tuned to have as much torque and power as you will ever be able to use in a landcruiser without breaking everything. With the frame and body of a cruiser you will never be towing 10,000Lbs so the added benefits of shoehorning in a 6bt will never be realized. The difficulties and modifications to get it to fit are never returned to you in any usable way. A 4bt with an good turbo, nice intercooler, and water injector can give you enough power to do anything you ever wanted within the confines of the FJ80 form.
But you don't need to take my word for it, head over to http://www.4btswaps.com and they can set you straight. In my opinion the Isuzu 4bd2t is the best swap for a cruiser.
I am not just a keyboard warrior; I own and drive a 1996 80 with Isuzu 4BD2T and my best friend owned a dodge with the 6bt. Having the 4 cylinder left me room to have an intercooler, transmission cooler, and AC evaporator. Anyone who wants to come test drive it is welcome to.
