Looking for help to narrow down potential causes of driveline shaking.

I took Lexus brand pads I bought from the dealer that’s 1.5 hours away to a local express oil change near me. I didn’t feel like doing myself or waiting 2 days for a new hire dealer tech to do at the out of town dealer. Had express do a front and rear pad change and rotor turn.

I’ve now got a wobble or vibration that seems to be worse around 20-40mph. I am pretty sure it is in the rear. The steering wheel does not shake. All tire pressure is good. I’m hoping to find time Saturday and pull the rear wheels off to see if the rotors are warped and see if a brake is catching. But it is not pulling to one side when driving that I can tell.

Any ideas?
Or things you would try to narrow down? I’m wondering if a sticking caliper, or warped rotor. Air in lines that needs to be bleed better?. Or maybe loose lug-nuts. Or wheel balance weights knocked off. I’m trying to make a list of possible things.

It’s a non height changing, base suspension 2018 gx 460 with 81k miles. Tires look good and drive smooth at 80 mph. Probably 10k of wear left.

I don’t think the guys at the express shop will be able to help. And I no longer trust them. I figured out they were looking all through my vehicle when I picked it up. The manager kept asking me work questions. I was thinking, how the hell do you know where I work. As soon as I got my car back I could tell someone dug through everything. Glove box, center console, cargo area, backseat. Rant over.
I don’t have a Toyota mechanic in this city to help me. I just know who I wouldn’t use again so I’m going to try and narrow down myself.

You are on the right track, but every idea starts with inspecting what actually was done, and if it was done correctly.

Check the basics
-if the rotors were turned, were they in fact done properly and are they above the thickness mini?
-Are the lug nuts torqued correctly,
-Was the hardware put back and Is operating, properly?
- If the handbrake functioning properly.

Later on,

The wheel weights, maybe, but usually it will induce steering shake at select operating speeds.
The air in the line, is way down the list, as that will effect brake feel rather then vibration issues.

Do you think it could be something as simple as a thrown wheel weight?
During the install, a weight may have been knocked off.

oh man, that sucks. Dealing with other people’s maintenance is a headache. You will probably have to redo the whole job and look for anything they may have touched or perhaps broken. If they jacked it improperly or didn’t align parts correctly and torqued everything down it may be hard to find. Good luck with your sleuthing and correcting what you find.
Ideas may be checking rear propshaft/driveshaft for dents,
But what I’m suspecting having done this job recently is dragging emergency brake. The e brake on these is the ancient drum brake and if it’s not adjusted properly can drag and heat up causing excessive heat and warping.

Good luck

If it was EBC pads I would say that is normal...

Last sat I spent about 20 mins messing with before my 4 year old reminded me I don’t have time to do that stuff. ( She has autism so she gets my attention as much as I can give to keep her and me smiling. )
I jacked up rear and found nothing loose. Yesterday I decided to stop by the quick lube place I was not happy with that installed the brake pads to see if they could help. I mentioned the odd vibration in the rear that has gotten worse after the brake job.
A lube tech walks up and in under 3 seconds of looking at the vehicle with just a flashlight finds a large lump on the rear driver tire tread I had missed. I was planning on new tires within 6-12 months anyway due to wear and mileage so no biggy. I am very happy the issue is solved. I hate stuff like this that doesn’t get solved after multiple visits etc
