The gauge thing sucks. I'd be so angry at the stupidity of the whole thing, on top of that it is so difficult to prove one didn't do something. Then of course there's the matter of whether or not its worth it to put in the energy or just say screw 'em. And to what avail? And after all that cr*p its still a digital gauge in a 40......

Seriously though.... how'd you make those U bolt holder things with a drill press!?

Moutard is indeed coming along nicely and I'll come for the shake-down run / exploratory mission.

Better get a CB in that thing so you can hear the clatter...... and Ill glue the face of it up solid with the volume knob cranked.... James May style. Too bad CB's don't have wireless remote controls we could all get see how well 40 sound deadening (or lack there of) works.

On second thought, I could never put Mel through that kind punishment should she have the misfortune of coming along that day. :flipoff2:

Haha, digital schmidgital, it works. And a big red light flashes on my dash when I hit max temp. Works for me.
Cheaper than the gauge I wanted with better features ( really is a nice unit), tho after all this BS I get pissed off just looking at it. May have to move the fxxxing thing into the glove box so I don't see it at all.
Low on the list to do much about it tho.

I loathe radios from the core of my being in case you hadn't noticed.Had to deal with all the Uber Nerd ham and SSB guys in the past, that s*** is reeetarded.

They'll happily listen to you burn to death or sink and not call the fire truck if you haven't followed the etiquette exactly as stated in the little handbook that never leaves their side. Basically it's Dungeons and Dragons for fat lonely men in basements.

And as for CB's and VHF's well, I've always taken "Roger" to mean turn it off, the children have stolen daddy's radio :flipoff2:

And yeah, shakedown soon I hope. After how much this weekend sucked doing leaves, I have the urge to abuse the sucker a little bit.

I do have to brace the side steps first tho, they'll fold my rockers in half at the moment if they touch anything.

No big gay alberta/north bay ontario shackles here.

and I made these dealios to hold the ubolts on the bottom. Would've been just a smidge easier with a mill...my drill press didn't quite catch fire. :hillbilly:

So yes, a good shakedown pound on the backroad is coming this weekend. Not quite wheelable yet, because I still need to brace my side steps.

But, it's never been closer...[/QUOTE]

Hey I resemble that remark growing up in North Bay Ontario on Troute lake...:hillbilly:

did you use paypal when you bought the gauge?

I did, but I never leave any cards or accounts linked to it because I don't trust it.

Think I have about $1.50 balance on there, so if he wants to go after it, he can fill his boots...

Just one of those things. Usually when I get called names I deserve it. So it's annoying when I don't but can't really prove anything.

Got the last leaf pack in tonight and took it for a quick burn, certainly has fewer creaks and clonks, but them rear springs are stiff as F**.

Also had a bit of a dshaft grumble accelerating in 3rd. Once I get the wreckage cleared away in the garage I'll check the flanges with a protractonator and see what's up.

I'll have to find a rock and flex the crap out of the springs to see how the shackles work. Maybe friday.

Not going to be too hasty to change anything, I'll let them settle first, and see where things end up in a month or so.

i was thinking of the reverse, with you listing them as a bad seller through pay pal since they warranty that kind of thing with using there service.. to protect the buyer from fraud...

Hm. I'll have to look into that.

Truth is, I think it's a clerical error of some type on their part, and he ( or she?) really believes I'm trying to f them over, and is either too stubborn or too dumb to figger out that I haven't.

Otherwise they've always been good to deal with, even in this instance, sending out the new gauge before I'd even returned the defective one.

Wasn't until they got the defective one back that the bs started, and by that time I already had the replacement installed...

Makes me feel bad that they have this opinion of me. Which is the only reason I even give a s*** at this point. :meh:

clamp a pair together and drill down the crack; doing two halves in one pass?

And the winner is.... no prize tho, unless you want a coupon for a sensual massage from toshi....

I clamped a bit of doorskin between to space them apart too. Actually went pretty quick, only an hour or so to get them done.

Doesn't really save a ton in the way of clearance, but it's definitely smoother under the springs.

Dunno if it's worth it, but was kinda fun, so I'll take that for a reason.

figgered I'd better provide some photo evidence that Mootard actually left the driveway.:flipoff2:

New springs are just a wee bit better than the old. Night and day difference on the road, feels like my caster is a bit more positive, which always helps.

Didn't find anthing too exciting, couple steep ass roads, but nothing too lumpy, which was ok, plan was just a sunday drive give the springs a good shake out so I could retighten ubolts etc, and let the dogs run, until the gate guard said there were wolf traps up there, so letting dogs run wasn't a great idea.

Considering Mel had a pic from her Fbook from a few days back of a dead wolf that's the size of a small horse, I didn't feel much like getting outta the truck either:lol:

Wow, I didn't think those uboltsbwould be put to good use that soon! Looking good and i wish i knew you were going for a burn, I woulda joined you! I haven't been out wheeling in forever and my holidays are almost over.

Ha yeah thanks for those !

I still think it's retarded that ubolts cost as much as springs. ( well as much as my springs anyways...:grinpimp:)

Funny too, that trip was almost exactly a year since I stuck plates on this thing for the first time...(I'm speedy...)

But yeah, I wouldn't call that little trip "wheeling" ,pretty soft core, don't spill your coffee kinda day....you'd have been bored I think, and then you'd probably try to get me to follow you up some freakish blackflag style trail:flipoff2:

Nice picture proof ! ... good to see mootard out in the wild...

Right up there with a Samsquamch sighting! I think he maybe photo chopped it in there, the shadows don't look right!

Where those wolf traps? Up Copper Canyon? I might be up there or Timberlands this weekend and want to know about the dog. Also you hear of this anywhere else?

Yeah was at the copper canyon main gate, the rent-a-cop mentioned it when he saw my dogs. Beyond that I got nuthin, but I kept the dogs in the truck just the same.

Probably some archaic leg hold bull****.

( oh and Cam, you know the words, sing along, bite me. :flipoff2:)

Here's a gruesome dead wolf pic from alberta for you from Mel's FaecesBook a few days ago.

Provided the dude in the pic isn't Vern's Porn Dwarf ,( soon to be found dead in a badger den.....) that is a big freakin animal.

It lives......

spent the day fuggering around.

Got my winch working ( that snow fest the other weekend was a classic "must get winch working" kinda day.)

I only have it wired for pull at the moment, because I only have one 24v solenoid, but good enough for now. It's pretty much emergency use only at this point as it's a 12v motor on there...kinda needs a chimney on it. :hillbilly:

If it works once, it'll have done it's job, and then I'll order a proper 24v motor for it.

Stole this idea from Jay.

Got a fairlead and cable on it. ( Motor is resting/cooling at this point...)

And we'll see if this makes any difference to the whole 24v serial gayness that always happens with batteries. Wimpy little panel, but only has to perk up that one battery from radio usage. Had the panel and the charge controller sitting on a shelf for years, figger I may as well use it for something.

And any of you guys used "sea wings" ?

Place in the states has 24v motors for this winch for 140 bucks with free shipping, they say they'll ship it to seawings address for me.

Beats the 300 bucks I was quoted for a motor up here.

Where is the motor source?
