Where is the motor source?

think they were called rare electrical. they're on ebay. there's a couple places that sell winch motors on there.

Could be cheap chinese crap that isn't worth it, but then the 300 bucker from around here might be too.

If I can get the price closer to 200, I'll just do that, because by the time seawings get's their cut, I'm close to that anyways.

True

I don't know what winch you have on your truck but I have been told the warn 12v motors can handle 24v of punishment ad long as you have 24v solenoids
I plan on testing that theory

yeah I'm sure this motor could too if it was newer, and it may even be fine. It's a ramsey , the motors are probably made in the same factory. This one is Prestolite.

.

Need to sort out solenoids too, had this one stick on, and of course it happened right when I was getting to the end of the cable, not halfway through ....

So that was a little exciting.

I tried cleaning the motor out, some dumbass in the past greased it, so it's got lots of goo in there and smokes like a mf'er when it's going, could also just be it's dying breaths escaping...

But when the motor packs it in, unless I stumble across a cheap or free 12v one, I'll get the proper motor for it.

I've used seawings many times... they're great to deal with!

Several times shippers have sent stuff in two boxes that arrived separately and they just charged me the big fee once and then weight the 2nd time...

Cool. I may give them a try when the time comes...

Turboner.

:grinpimp:

Soon I will be able to burp my throttle like small man in large truck.

Spare lump comes in handy, comfy seat and a place to set my beer nearby.

gotta like that.

Sweet manifold. I like the collection taper, very cool.

"collection taper"

You make that sound all engineered and sophisticated.

Nothing sophisticated. about you guys:D

I think I like yur manifold and may copy it, make it slightly different in order to not infringe on your patened pending...;)

Patent right infringements will be met with stiff penalties involving beer...

Reason for building it like that was I discovered I still had the mitered off cuts from the back bumper I built for my 70 about 6 years ago lying in a heap below my drill press. Made the light bulb click on...:hhmm:

Plus my turbo has a straight down exhaust dump, otherwise I'd have angled it upwards more so it didn't stick out as far from the side of the engine. Think it'll fit without messing with the airbox, but I may have to move the box a smidge.

The awkward part is going to be making the intake from airbox to the turbo not look like a monkey fxxxing a football.

Everything points the wrong way. I've seen some 80's have an airbox intake that aims down, which would work. Dunno the year and can't find a pic tho.

LOL. This thread always makes me laugh.

Great stuff!

Well, garsh, glad we amuse...:grinpimp:

I never post in the diesel tech section anymore because every thread turns into a bitch fest about minutiae.

Clay dolls and ocd vs " I've been using foot long shackles for 40 years"

Hacked up some aluminum for the intake. I'll probably make a cut and splice with rubber to keep vibes down.

Strange turbo with the bolt on flange. No Idea what it came from . A cheeseburger was involved in the purchase.

It got weird.

This is what keeps my turbo progress slow. Had to build an interior for the egg. Almost done f'ing around with interior, a proper axle and lift will be next. :hillbilly:

Yup..... laying low here and keeping it local is the way to go.

Ha

How'd you glue that aluminum together there, Ryan?

Yes. Douchebaggery abounds in the other sections. Especially that one...
I have a little spool gun for my mig. Works pretty well tho it does eat tips if you aren't careful. ..

I should probably bribe you with some beer for some theory on the thing one day. I'm sure the savings in tips would pay for the beer pretty quick. ..

Tho when I actually use it more than once a year it helps.

I spent about 6 months building aluminum bulwarks for a 60 foot boat once, I was a fawkin' pro by the end of that...but the fumes didn't help the retention...

so did you make a grill insert for the top of that manifold so you can cook some dogs on there ...

I bet there's an interesting story behind this.

And you know what this means....:grinpimp:

Pan came off with light twist of a catspaw, which was a nice change from the last time I did this.

That fitting that's in the bung there was just so I could hold on to it while zapping it in. Something a little lower profile and angled will be needed to miss the filter.

But at least now I can drive Mootard without feeling guilty about the age of the oil in it...( I just get to feel guilty over the slop in my tcase output...among other things...)
