My wife was driving home and thought this was me. Just curious if this rig is local.
I live in Ste Genevieve County and never see another 40. Gravel bar pic is mine

Thanks. I like any 40. Definitely would like to meet the owner.

Years back I used to drop notes on the windshields of other 40 owners. Parts were often hard to find. If a 40 went to the auto wreckers, it would be picked clean down to a bare skeleton within a week.
So I’d chase down other 40/55s and leave notes asking if they had any parts or needed any.

Looking back on it, it was much harder than it is now, I bought and sold all sorts of cruiser parts that way. I was flying blind when doing disc brake conversions and swapping parts to keep the truck on the road.

After my F engine died, I read through the AA engine conversion manual cover to cover several times and then the Downey conversion manual several times, and figured it out and got it done.

Recently I found out from other cruiser owners that they were doing the same thing. Networking was much slower… but it got the job done.

I agree much easier now. Ive owned this forty since 1995 second owner. Many iterations and broken bolts. Yes I still stop and leave a note when I see one. I asked my wife if she left one yesterday and got the look.

Looks like a Wyoming license plate.
It does from what I see. This was an hour south of St. Louis on I-55, not a drive id like to make.
