Pulled this out! Very tricky. Now I need to weld the holes shut. Impossible right now to find a shop with an open bay for this week! In the mean time installing Joey's kit. I'll likely put duct tape over the hole this one came out of.

Going to a paint and body shop Monday. Slicing off the remaining screws off the top. What do you suggest for replacing the sound deadening?

How much should I expect to pay for them to weld the holes, repaint, and sand down and repaint the rear crossmember?

You can order more of that insulation. I have roles of it that i got with a foil side that i have been installing slowly on my projects. I would recommend you put at least something on the larger planes of metal that will absorb vibration. It will make it ring less during rain and is nice if you like it quite even when it is raining.
I am not the right person to ask regarding an adhesive for the replacement insulation but I am sure someone else can chime in there.

The final result! Very happy, definitely looks smooth with the slick top. Next huge project will be replacing the aftermarket windshield with a better aftermarket windshield. I already have the OEM gasket. There's rust under the windshield that I will have addressed next year.

So upon taking off the old sun visors, I decided to make the jump and upgrade to Rosen Visors. The OEM visors still worked flawlessly but why not make the upgrade. Ordered last Friday and they arrived today. Got a $10 Mud discount. Great people over there in Eugene. I used the OEM sun visor hardware with the universal mount. I covered up the empty hole with the Solvefunction Block Off Plates finished in tan.

I also found a clean for the year OEM radio, and I have my favorite radio station that I couldn't get on an aftermarket radio. I prefer a volume knob as well. It just looks like it belongs in my 80 series. The OEM cupholder that bolts up in place of the blank insert will be here next week! Cheers 🍻

Installed the OEM Cupholder. Really completes the center stack and looks 100 times better than the insert. I did have to rip off the wood trim around the cupholder. Have most people ditched the wood? Without the wood it looks even more utilitarian. I dig it.

After 3 and a half months of a winter hibernation, I'm finally driving my Land Cruiser everyday and she hasn't missed a beat. I decider to change my vanity plates and I like this look a lot better. Also got some new cds to add to my collection. Transfer case and differential fluids to be serviced later on this month. And much more to come after that!

if you ever wanted to get a closer look at the ol girl and hear a Master of his trade discuss our amazing trucks, give it a watch! I know my knuckles once again need service, I'll be going with a Cruiser Outfitters kit. AMD told me theyll be good until next year. I'll probably service them before that. Enjoy!

So fresh and so clean!!!

I like how he subtly called you out on the knuckles, brakes, and steering damper. Lmao.

Seems like a solid mechanic, must be great to have one nearby!!

I'm surprised the OME damper is leaking so fast, it's only been installed for a few years. I have the brake pads (100 series fronts) ready to install. Knuckles and the tire look messier in the video than they do right now.

He's great to have around for the bigger jobs that require a garage and tools. Although the other day I did purchase a torque wrench while changing my oil. My dad gave me his oil filter wrench that he bought before I was born.

I've been far too busy working and saving for my first home to tinker with the 80. She is my daily driver and hasn't complained. 206,100. Love her more than the day I got her.

You gotta be feeling pretty good after that video.
Question: On an older post you mentioned a better quality after market windshield. What is your source (or brand) that you find to be better? I had my original windshield replaced a few years ago, and it can be a bit distorting at some angles. So I would like to know what you've found.
Thanks and beautiful 80!

Fuyao I believe is the aftermarket windshield that has been recommended on here. Made in Japan I think? I haven't replaced mine yet, I want to repair the rust around the windshield. I might just wait on all of that until she gets repainted. Still debating. I appreciate you! I had been in contact for a few years with Ahmed, when I found out he was not only in my state but a 20 minute drive away. He was very interested in making a video with my 80. You can tell the passion he has for it in the video. I just dont feel good about my knuckles seeping out on video! Very easy to work with. I'm a UPS driver so I never know when I get off my shift.

Small weekend project that took a few minutes to do. I ordered weatherstripping for the entire truck by mistake thinking that's what I had to replace. Adding those to my hoarders collection.

I had no idea these came with a small felt pad to eliminate wear on the dash and likely to prevent rattles. Do all cars come with this? Or is this special for a vehicle like this?

Current mileage, at the end of November my 80 will be going under the knife for a complete rebuild of the knuckles using all OEM parts including the birfield joints themselves. Pricey yes but I want this done right. Front pads and rotors and steering stabilizer as well. Is it worth going from OME to OEM? Does the stabilizer really make that much of a difference on these vehicles?
