I installed an aftermarket (Reese) hitch receiver and the plug-in wiring adapter, which gives a 4-pin connector towards my trailer. Everything works great w/ my current trailer.

Now I'm going to tow a different trailer that uses a 5-pin connector (flat). The fifth pin is apparently for the reverse-light indicator, so that the surge brakes de-activate when the vehicles in reverse. Without that signal, the trailer intreprets reverse as braking and the surge brake will activate.

So what can I do? Shall I run a separate signal wire to the 5th pin from the reverse light? Does the '98 have some other method or adapter kit that I could use?

Thanks guys for the help.
