I run an auto-203-splitcase and love having the gearing options. Especially running the auto I haven't needed it to be lower. For whatever reason my 203 isn't always the smoothest to shift back into high and sometimes it's just easier to turn off the engine, shift it, and start the engine again if it's binding on me. For those running the blackbox is that a smoother shifter? Always liked that option.
Mine is the same way!!
It's just easier to shut the rig down and shift.

I was in the same dilemma when I built my rig as far as having deeper gearing and I opted to do the 203/splitcass doubler for the many gearing options I had available to select from.
It's qwerky to shift, but it works great for what it's function is and it was way cheaper than an atlas.
I WOULD have saved myself a LOT of additional work if I had spent the money on an Atlas, though. The set up I have now, limits me from upgrading to heavier axles without a whole bunch more work.
Live and learn.
