My stepdaughter purchased a 95 runner with 116 on the clock exactly one month ago. It really is a clean truck with no rust ever and super nice original paint. Previous owner had head gaskets, timing belt, etc. done LESS THAN 1k miles ago. The other evening 2 blocks from home the crankshaft bolt came out. Absolutely unbelievable. The bolt was lying in the skid plate along with a nut off the fan as well as some metal shavings. I was able to reassemble it successfully. Upon startup, I was watching the balancer with a powerful light and could see it moving. When I leaned into the body, I felt the vibrations in sync with the balancer traveling throughout the vehicle. Do the balancers fail on these? I certainly hope the shavings were from IT and not the crank. Thoughts anyone?

Whoever put it together didn't torque it to the proper value.

I would replaced the balancer and see if it improves.

Tried a replacement balancer. Crank is destroyed. Will be pursuing litigation.
