Absolutely! We have a club member with a Jeep Rubicon and I hope he comes out and hang with us.Can my buddy in his sequoia come?
Yes, Virginia Lakes is a bit of a hike from south OC, but it’s worth it! I just camped there on the way to the Rubithon, and liked it so much that I camped there again on the way home. And, not just a beautiful place to camp, but there are some nice trails (and, of course, good fishing) in the immediate area. I don’t think you could go wrong with either run!Probably in for Big Bear. Drove by the exit to Virginia Lakes on the 395 going to Tahoe last week. 6+ hours easy. No thanks. Better news is that the highway bypassing Olancha is almost finished.
Or do both...I don’t think you could go wrong with either run!
Yes Sir. That would be Gold Mountain and John Bull trails in one day!fly me to the moon.....
Yes. The other easier route to the moon would be via White Mountain! Or we can take the scenic route on Snow Slide to Butler Peak lookout point.Gold Mountain is the one with the gatekeeper at the beginning or end depending on your start, right?
I believe Marc scouted this area last month and posted about it.Snow Slide to Butler Peak lookout point.
We can talk about it Thursday evening at camp. There are a couple of obstacles on Gold Mountain that the wider and longer wheelbase of the Tacoma may not handle well, and they aren't the gatekeeper.Yes. The other easier route to the moon would be via White Mountain! Or we can take the scenic route on Snow Slide to Butler Peak lookout point.
That will most likely be our campsite. I will post on this thread if we have to go to an alternate site.will folks generally be at the primary campground, or too soon to tell? Holcomb Pinnacle Camp Road and Van Deusen?
Yes. I will car camp myself. Is car camping ok if I decide to stay the night?
Stock LC100s come with front and rear tow hooks which will satisfy the recovery points requirement. The 33s will help some but low hanging bits like your running boards may get damaged by some challenging obstacles along trails. Nearly all of us remove the running boards and most replace them with rocksliders.I have an LC100 on 33s that's otherwise bone stock (including factory bumpers). What do others do for the 100 to satisfy that requirement?
Thank you sir. It is to everyone’s benefits and enjoymentttoner: you run a tight ship.![]()
Maybe time to jump on this deal! This sounds fun, I'm pretty new to the community and I just discovered this thread. I can't commit yet, but put me down as a maybe for Friday. I have a few questions if it's ok:
1) if I can only make it a day, should I just plan to make it to the campground by 9 or so and leave with the crew for the day (and will folks generally be at the primary campground, or too soon to tell? Holcomb Pinnacle Camp Road and Van Deusen?
2) Is car camping ok if I decide to stay the night?
3) I have what I think are the factory recovery hooks in the front, not actually sure if there are points in the rear... I have an LC100 on 33s that's otherwise bone stock (including factory bumpers). What do others do for the 100 to satisfy that requirement?
Yes. Jump on the deal….time to jump
It is tempting…
