Save the date for our 3rd Annual Big Bear A Thon of 2025.

Like years past (2023 and 2024), this will be a multi-day base camping and exploration event on Thursday 7/24 to Saturday 7/26. Being on the last weekend of July, I'm expecting for the weather to be sunny during the day and cool at night, perfect for wheeling and cookouts!

Trails in the areas are mild to wild and we will explore the area to the best ability of our vehicles. Be sure that your vehicle has recovery points in both front and rear. Without recovery points you can still join us at camp but won't be trail riding.

I would like to try something new this year and welcome those willing to try in their two wheel drive vehicles on the not so technical runs. Though high clearance and recovery points are still required. 2WD can definitely get to our campsite (34.30485, -116.88698) and can be camped there while you can ride with someone in their 4WD. There is enough space for a handful of trailers but do let me know ahead of time if you are bringing one so we can arrange accordingly.

More details to come...

Please reply here if you plan to join. And I hope you do!

Interested as well. May not be able to come for the whole thing, but want to make it up for at least a couple days!

Might be available for a day trip or one night

Im interested, also wanted to ask if this was the July trip instead of the Virginia Lakes run? Do we have a planned time to arrive on Thursday? I want to gauge if I need to take one day off for this.

Quoting our club Newsletter:
“July Long-Distance Club Run: Virginia Lakes Base Camp, & area runs - 7/17-7/20
July Club Local Club Run: Big-Bear-A-Thon - 7/24-7/26: for those who cannot make it all the way out to Virginia Lakes”

I will set up base camp from Thursday to Saturday and you are welcome to join all, part, or just for the day. I will provide more details soon…
I hope you decide to join us.

Probably in for Big Bear. Drove by the exit to Virginia Lakes on the 395 going to Tahoe last week. 6+ hours easy. No thanks. Better news is that the highway bypassing Olancha is almost finished.
