okay guys got a problem, I am in the process of installing a 3FE into my 40, I am to the point of trying to get it to fire and I am having no sucess. The engine was running a few weeks ago, I heard it myself before pulling it from the parts 62 I have the complete wirring harness installed............... My problem is I am not getting spark, I have power at the coil put for some reason the distributor isn't telling the coil to send the juice. I am new to this whole EFI set-up so do you guys have any ideas of the usual places to look with such a problem? In the mean time I will keep searching the archives for any helpful information.

THanks
JP

I`ve had this on mine 3FE engined 80 series......

Pickup coil sensors. Ther location is in the distributor......

The best way to check their resistance

There are two sensors the NE and IG. The one is for the ignition (the lower one) and the second (upper one) is for Injector control

Make sure that the coil/ignitor assembly is securely bolted in place on the fenderwell. It grounds through its mounting and if it is loose it will not ground completely and it will not function. I had a rig in here that had been through three different shops and they had thrown some expensive parts at the problem because they couldn't figure it out.

mark you may have it there........... I don't have it grounded, because I have the whole front end of the 40 apart, man I hope that is it.

Thanks for the info guys and Merry Chirstmas!!!

As Mark mentioned; grounding is really important.

U need a ground lead from fender to frame and engine block and firewall as a minimum. #10 wire will do for a start.
